Hello!

I'm Reuben a session drummer in Littlehampton on the south coast of the UK.
With over 15 years experience behind me, I am now offering remote drum recording from my state of the art home studio. When I say "help your project come to life" that really is what I set out to achieve with every session. My desire is that your vision as an artist, creative, producer or songwriter will be fully realised, and I always work hard to ensure it. With that said, I don't set a limit on revisions for the duration of the session. Communication will be regular and there is also the option to listen in and give instant feedback via Audiomovers if you'd prefer.

Interview with Reuben Harsant

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: If it sounds good, it sounds good!

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Don't be afraid to reach out and ask questions. We're a friendly crew!

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: Been drumming for over 20 years now. Did music at every level of education and never looked back. One opportunity lead to another and I've now travelled the world doing what I love. So grateful!

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: A great producer friend of mine once said to me "you've got that British pocket". So hopefully that! And also some creative and dynamic parts for your song.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: I spend the first 30 minutes of almost any session picking out the right drums and cymbals for the song. I'll then listen through the demo (whatever has been sent), take notes and add markers to my session. Once I start tracking I always aim to have a take to send for client feedback within the first hour. We then work together until we are happy to sign off.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I'm currently running a UAD Apollo x8P using mostly API and Neve preamps emulations. I have a Focusrite Clarett 8p connect via ADAT giving me another 8 channels. This is all running into Protools. I have a mixture of Shure, AKG, Warm Audio, Sontronics, Audix, Cascade and SE microphones to choose from. Current set up is: Audix i5 on Hats Shure Beta 52 on Kick in Sontronics DM-1B on Kick out Shure SM57 ơn Snare top and bottom AKG 414's on toms Unidyne 545 for Knee mic (over the kick) Pair of WA84's for Overheads SE R1 Ribbon for a mono Overhead Cascade Fathead pair for Rooms

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: Aaron Sterling, Darren King, Paul Maybury, Ash Soan

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: Most of what I'm currently working on is in the indie/pop and modern worship genre
