Impactful Mixing & Mastering

Everest Witman on SoundBetter

Mixing and mastering engineer with a focus on folk/acoustic music. I love realistic sound-stages that give listeners the impression of being in the room with the artist as well as dynamic masters for maximum emotional impact.

Mixing
What I believe sets my work apart from other mixers is my commitment to creating an immersive sound-stage with realistic depth. I grew up in Vermont playing and listening to traditional Irish music, so I have a great appreciation for the sound of acoustic, live music. I try to make my mixes sound like enhanced versions of being in the room with the musicians.

Mastering
Give your music the final touch that takes it to the next level. I can offer a highly trained second set of ears with neutral monitoring for objective decision-making. I master tracks for maximum emotional impact and dynamics. I love listening to a mix and figuring out how to enhance what's there to best serve the intent of the music.

Interview with Everest Witman

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital. Software these days is incredible, and recallability is so important. Also, I would rather put more money in monitoring than very expensive analog gear.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That I only work on acoustic music. I would love to mix/master your funk or electronic album.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: My Sennheiser 600s, my DAC, and my laptop (assuming I can bring all of my software). I guess I get two more, so an SE VR2 ribbon microphone as well.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Acoustic music like folk, americana, and traditional music.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: Tchad Blake is my favorite mixing engineer. I adore Bob Katz in the mastering world.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I work often with acoustic music mixing and mastering.
