CHRYSI on SoundBetter

I write, produce, and mix clean and punchy rock and pop tracks (1st 30 secs for free), and have over a million streams in total.

Hi, I'm Chrysi. I produce and mix rock and pop records that sound clean, wide, and punchy, and still feel like you.

I think a finished track should tell your story as accurately as possible. Getting the technical side right is part of that. The other part is making sure the song still hits the way you meant it to.

I've worked in the music industry for 18 years, mostly in rock and pop. I usually work on a song from start to finish: writing, producing, and mixing. Songs I've worked on have passed 1 million streams combined.

Most recently I was signed to Vicky Hamilton's label in Los Angeles (Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, Faster Pussycat) where I produced and performed modern alt rock. Being on the artist side, I know the feeling of a mix being technically "correct" and still miss. My job is to catch that and fix it.

What I can do for you:

Production at any stage, from demo to finished record
Mixing for rock, alt rock, and pop
Songwriting and arrangement help

Send me your track and tell me what you're going for. I'll tell you honestly how I'd get it there.

Send me a note through the contact button above.

Interview with CHRYSI

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: It was an original song called Parasites. My role was writing and producing the song. This song came out of pure emotions, and I didn't follow any templates or feel any pressure to adhere to a certain sound. The result was a heavy rock ballad that went into a deep house part, because there was exactly what the emotions called for. Looking back, I couldn't have produced something like that intellectually. It required everything I stood for.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm working on a heavy rock version of a song I once wrote and produced. It was a pop song that was performed by 2 artists, and 1 of them needs a version of her own to sing.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Nate Barnes on drums. He delivered a great live drum track to me.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Whichever delivers the most accurate story for the piece of music.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is that you will break some barriers and discover a sound that's a part of you, and only you.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I get a high from creating something that's completely aligned with the artist. I like pushing boundaries, because that's the only way something original is created.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That I just make decisions based on the quality of the sound. I actually put more effort into making the correct choices, even if it means removing certain elements of a song.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: Who are the 3 artists you are most influenced by? What do you absolutely dislike? What do you love?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Don't be married to a certain reference. Let's create something only you have.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: Audeze LCD-X, Apollo Twin X, Electric Guitar, Mic, Macbook Pro

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started as a session drummer 18 years ago. I wanted to produce

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: It's unapologetically graceful. I never chase trends.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Trust your choices, and be confident about having fun.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Heavy Rock, Pop.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Delivering an artist's signature.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: Harmony, balance, and sex appeal. Just like a design of a space, there shouldn't be a definition of a certain style just because it's trendy. It must be owned by no one else except the artist.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: The story of the song always comes first. I gather all the emotions and messages the artist wants to deliver, before we start working on the music.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: I work in a treated studio, with my favorite PMC 6 speakers, and a pair of Audeze LCD-X.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: I love producers who make decisions based on the best story an artist wants to tell. A clean loud and punchy mix doesn't mean anything if the song's emotion is just not hitting right.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: I write, produce, and mix, anywhere from scratch to completion.
