Interview with Fady Berty

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Deadmau5 as I will endlessly learn tips that I will never get from anyone else.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Simply EDM.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Label-Approved Sound – Ready for release on major and indie platforms. Broadcast Quality – Meets and exceeds global loudness and clarity standards. Genre-Tailored Production – Sound design and mixing crafted for the target style. Analog Warmth & Depth – Achieved through elite compression and mastering chains. Commercial Translation – Optimized to sound flawless on any playback system.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: My workflow is designed to ensure maximum sonic integrity and competitive loudness, starting from the Mixing & Mastering stage and moving through a structured, detail-oriented process. Gain Staging (Pre-Clarity Mix Down) – While gain staging is traditionally done after a rough mix, I prioritize this as my very first step. This allows me to optimize headroom, maintain signal integrity, and create a balanced starting point before any creative mixing decisions are made. Clarity Mix Down – Once the gain staging is set, I focus on precision mixing to ensure tonal balance, stereo imaging, and dynamic control. This stage is about ensuring every element has its own defined space in the mix. Mastering & Polishing – After achieving a pristine mix, I move into mastering. While the exact techniques and signal chain are part of my signature “secret process,” my goal is always to enhance depth, punch, and overall cohesion while ensuring translation across all playback systems — from streaming platforms to club sound systems. Final Quality Control – Every project undergoes multiple reference checks in different listening environments, ensuring the final product meets or exceeds modern industry standards. This process ensures that each track I work on is not only sonically competitive but also emotionally impactful — ready for release in today’s fast-moving music landscape.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: My studio is a fully professional, acoustically treated environment built around a hybrid workflow that seamlessly combines analog precision with modern digital flexibility. The core of the setup revolves around world-class analog compression, expansion, and limiting systems — using only the most elite and respected versions available in the global industry. This analog backbone ensures that every project benefits from the warmth, depth, and dynamic integrity that only high-end hardware can deliver, while my integrated digital environment allows for surgical control, recall, and creative experimentation. The result is a mastering-grade signal chain capable of delivering commercially competitive sound that translates perfectly across all playback systems, from streaming platforms to large-scale live systems. Every stage of the workflow — from mixing to mastering — is optimized to preserve musicality, enhance impact, and bring out the finest details of a production, ensuring that artists receive a final product that meets the highest professional standards worldwide.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: My creative inspiration is drawn from a diverse range of artists and producers who have each defined or elevated their respective genres — shaping not only the sound but also the emotional depth of modern music production. In the Progressive, Industrial, and Techno space, I find immense inspiration in the visionary sound design of Rezz and Deadmau5, both of whom masterfully blend minimalism with cinematic tension and futuristic textures. For Uplifting Trance, my roots are strongly influenced by Aly & Fila, whose emotionally charged compositions and melodic storytelling continue to set a gold standard in the global trance scene. When it comes to Progressive Trance, legends like Paul van Dyk have deeply shaped my sense of arrangement and musical structure, with his timeless approach to tension, release, and euphoric atmosphere. In the world of Trap and Hip-Hop, I look up to elite producers like Cardo Got Wings, Cubeatz, and YeX, who consistently innovate with rhythmic complexity, atmospheric layering, and sample-driven groove — setting trends across both mainstream and underground markets. For Retrowave, Chillwave, and Vaporwave, I’m heavily influenced by artists such as Hotel Pools, HOME (especially his track Resonance), and A.L.I.S.O.N, all of whom capture nostalgia through warm analog textures, dreamy atmospheres, and emotionally resonant progressions. Each of these figures inspires different aspects of my workflow — from melodic sensibility and sound palette to dynamic structure and emotional storytelling — ultimately shaping the way I approach production and engineering across genres.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: As a full-time music producer and audio engineer, I specialize in delivering end-to-end music production services tailored to a diverse range of genres, including Chill, Chillwave, Synthwave, Retrowave, Vaporwave, Trance, Techno, Hip-Hop, and Trap. My core responsibility is to transform a creative vision into a fully produced, industry-ready track — from initial composition and arrangement to the final polish. While I offer full production services, my primary focus and expertise lie in mixing and mastering, where I ensure that every element of a track achieves sonic clarity, dynamic depth, and commercial loudness. I utilize a combination of analog hardware and cutting-edge digital tools in a professionally treated studio environment to deliver high-fidelity results that meet the standards of major streaming platforms, labels, and sync placements. Each project I work on receives a custom-tailored approach, rooted in genre-specific sound design, emotional storytelling, and technical precision — allowing artists to compete confidently in today’s evolving musical landscape.
