Strings & Arrangements

Michaela Danner on SoundBetter

Violinist and string arranger. pure strings and innovative sounds. 20 years of experience in recording and arranging string instruments.

You can already hear strings on your track, but don't know how to implement it? Then you are exactly right with me. I am a violinist with many years of experience in performing, recording and arranging violin and other string instruments, working with Michael Bublé, Alvaro Soler, James Last, Helene Fischer and many more.

I love to combine the classical sound of strings with beats, guitars, piano etc and paint a picture of contrast and merger. My arrangements are creative and colorful and I am open for any kind of music - Singer/Songwriter, Rock, Hip Hop, Dubstep, film music and Soundtracks are no strangers to me.

My speciality are small ensembles, that play a prominent role in the mix - from Solo Violin/Viola to Trio/Quartet or chamber Orchestra. No matter if it's a vocal song or an instrumental piece of music, I love experimenting with different effects and sounds to crate new sound worlds and I am always looking forward to new challenges. I spent a lot of time in finding the perfect sound for my string recordings and I always adjust it to fit perfectly to the sound of the piece of music it is meant for.

No matter if you need a complete album with several songs or just a short line for violin - don't hesitate to get in contact with me and we will find a way to work together. We can talk about your vision and make it come true.

Interview with Michaela Danner

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I attach great importance to the fact that my recorded strings sound very real and are not too smooth due to heavy processing. I think that too much demand for perfection takes away the soul and character of every production.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: You will receive high quality audio tracks and your wishes always come first for me.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I really like that as a string player I am not limited to a specific style of music, but am always able to have new challenges and experiences. I can draw on my many years of experience as well as completely reinvent myself.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: I would love to work with the Foo Fighters one day because I think Dave Grohl is one of the most extraordinary and talented musicians and composers in the world AND because I love rock music :).

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: My strongest skill is to put myself in the client's shoes and take the piece of music to a new level - with the right balance of implementing wishes, bringing in my creativity and many years of experience in arranging and recording strings.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: For me there is no 'common type of work'. Of course I often play classical quartet or classical violin tracks on songs, but even then each piece of music is unique and requires being completely open and never falling into a routine.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: There are completely different ways of working together. Some clients have a very specific idea of how their strings should be arranged and sound and simply send me MIDI tracks, which I convert into real strings. But sometimes the collaboration is completely free and the clients simply send me their piece of music, tell me their vision and their ideas and then I start to develop the arrangement and transform their ideas into music combined with my creative input.

  15. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  16. A: I have really enjoyed working with Michael Buble on several tours and putting together his string ensemble. It's always a pleasure to make music with such an outstanding musician and his band.

  17. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  18. A: Alex Hoeffken on drums!!!

  19. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  20. A: That depends on the piece of music it is about. A completely acoustic, clear sound can be just as beautiful as creative effects and surreal alienations - or a combination of both. Everything is possible.
