Interview with Mitch Willard

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Por qué no los dos?!!! Both are amazing and I love combining the 2. Both can be great tools in any production, so why limit yourself to just one!

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: I get to make noise all day, which is super fun. This job is also the best aspects of any job that is creative and technical at the same time.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: This is all I have done, I never set out to do this for a job, I just did it cause I loved it. Then people started to pay me to do it. Even if I wasn't doing this as a career, I'd still be mixing everyday for fun.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: Oh so many to choose from, Either Strung Out, The Mars Volta, or Taking Back Sunday

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Don't overthink, if it sounds good, it's right. And never say "We'll fix it in the mix", make it sound how you want it.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Oh that's a hard one, I pride myself on giving 100% on everything, but love doing drums, I'm obsessed with getting the drums banging.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I run a hybrid setup with outboard compressors and EQs all routing though a Undertone Audio PYRA Summing Mixer.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Eric Valentine and Andrew Scheps and basically anyone with videos on Pure Mix.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: I mix everyday mixing Music for Artist remotely or Post Production Mixing/Editing/Sound Design for TV for Paramount ANZ
