I compose and perform some very difficult music, especially for a bassist. Jeff Plant is phenomenal. He has played bass on many of my recordings, and his skills are unparalleled. It’s actually pretty astounding / jaw-dropping what he can do on his instrument. His knowledge and understanding of music theory and the bass’s function within a song is so solid. He can do amazing acrobatics on his bass, but he also knows precisely when the bass needs to be more subtle and minimal. And he nails it every time.
