Interview with BGZ

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I always like to note the labels and artists I've been able to work with under my project "TRYPBOX". I won 1st place in DISCIPLE's 'Biggest remix competition of all time' and runners up on Black Book's Remix competition. These have allowed me to work on official remixes for artists like Habstrakt, Crankdat, Bandlez, and more.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Always working on new music for myself and my clients. Constantly working on and refining my craft.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital, mainly for convenience purposes.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: My goal is to blow away client's expectations. I want the client to be able to play their track in any situation and be proud of it.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: The flow state that we all enter when exercising our creativity.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: A common misconception about what I do is that it's just about making things sound “loud” or “clean.” In reality, my work goes much deeper—it's about translating creative vision into a cohesive, emotionally impactful experience that works both artistically and technically.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: I always like to get a thorough understanding of the client's goals. Not only to understand what they expect from me, but to also learn what they are looking for or trying to avoid specifically. I ask for things like reference tracks, inspirations, similar artists, etc...

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Make sure the professional understands what you are looking for. Over the years of working with clients I've realized that my brain and my decisions will only take me so far when concerning the client's goals. It's important to be technical and skilled in the craft, but its also very important to be able to translate the client's words into decisions that will take the project to where it's supposed to be.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: Headphones, hard drive, laptop, Interface, coffee maker.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I've been making music for over 10 years as of 2025. I have been developing/releasing music for 6+ Years under my artist project "TRYPBOX".

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: I’d describe my style as a seamless blend of musicality and technical precision. I have a strong understanding of harmony, melody, and rhythm, which I weave intricately into my sound design, arrangement, and mixing decisions. While each of these elements is a distinct part of the process, I treat them as deeply interconnected—each one influencing and enhancing the others to create music that’s both emotionally resonant and technically refined.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: It's easy to list my idols here. Of course I would like to work with Virtual Riot, Skrillex, and all the big guys. Beyond that I really enjoy working with anyone whom I can learn from.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Electronic music is more than just sick sounds and big drops. Easier said than done, but I really believe there's an essence to the craft that is not fakeable.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: I work across the full spectrum of EDM, with a strong foundation in house music—where I’ve received the most recognition and praise. That said, my experience extends well beyond just one subgenre. I’ve produced and engineered tracks across various styles of dance music, with credits on labels that represent a wide range of sounds within the EDM landscape. This versatility allows me to adapt to different creative directions while maintaining high-quality, genre-appropriate results.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Beyond producing, mixing, and mastering, one of my strongest skills is understanding what resonates with listeners in today’s EDM market. I don’t treat each stage of the process as isolated—I approach every decision holistically. From the start, I consider how each production choice will impact the mix and master, and vice versa. Rather than just stacking impressive sounds, I focus on making creative and technical decisions that work in harmony, ensuring the final result feels cohesive, intentional, and competitive from every angle.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I bring a deep understanding of EDM-specific arrangement, mixing, and mastering conventions—skills that are crucial and distinct from other genres. I stay current with trending sounds and know what works for different subgenres and purposes, whether it's club play, streaming, or festival performance. With a refined ear and strong technical skills, I can shape and tailor sounds to match the client’s vision with precision and impact.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: My typical work process starts with understanding the client’s vision—whether it’s a rough idea, reference track, or full concept. From there, I apply my knowledge of EDM arrangement, sound design, and technical mixing principles to shape that vision into a polished, competitive track. Every decision is aimed at preserving the artist’s intent while ensuring the final product stands strong in today’s music landscape.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: - 8-Inch monitors + Room Tuning software. - Studio Grade Headphones.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: I'm inspired by the intertwined nature of production and mixing—how creative decisions during the production phase can directly support a cleaner, more impactful mix. I often make arrangement and sound design choices with the end mix in mind, aiming for clarity, balance, and energy right from the start. Someone in particular that I think does this in outstanding fashion is Virtual Riot. One of my biggest inspirations when it comes to the quality I aim for.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: Production: Creating electronic music, and arrangements tailored to an artist’s style or project needs. Mixing: Balancing and enhancing individual tracks in a song (like vocals, synths, drums) to achieve clarity, depth, and energy. Mastering: Finalizing tracks for distribution by optimizing loudness for streaming and/or club play.
