Professional Topliner | 60M+ streams | The Voice of Germany | Worked with Jonas Blue, BUNT and more... Berlin-based songwriter specializing in pop and electronic music. With a background in indie-pop and folk, I bring a unique storytelling approach to every track. I've collaborated with renowned artists, creating melodies and lyrics that connect.
With a background in indie-pop and folk, I discovered my passion for co-writing pop and electronic dance music when I moved to Berlin in 2019 to study songwriting and music production.
Since then, I’ve worked with artists such as Jonas Blue, VIZE, bbyclose, YouNotUs, BUNT., Mike Candys, and more. My songs have accumulated over 60 million streams across digital platforms and have been performed on major festivals such as Lollapalooza and Tomorrowland.
Beyond songwriting, I lead two artist projects and have performed on TV shows like The Voice of Germany and the Kaulitz Brothers' "Superduper Show."

Interview with Hannes Volz
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My song: Not Gonna Sleep Alone hit 21 Mil streams last year and was played on the TV show Love Island. Also one of my vocals was played at Tomorrowland for the first time last year.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I have to artist projects: ARI. and Puelo. Also I have around 4 sessions a week as a songwriter for major artists and DJs.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am quite new to this platform so not for now but I am keen to meet new people.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital is usually fine in my experience. Who likes cutting tape ? ;)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will work very hard to get the best out of your idea and make it shine.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Making music with people from all over the world. Are you kidding? It's the best thing there is.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can we get a free demo of your voice on our song. That is most commonly asked haha. I totally understand that you want to be sure it is a fit for your instrumental, and for pre-written songs I usually can send over a quick draft. However, if you want a new song written, I cannot give you a free sample.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I sound german because I live in Germany. My english 100% is accent-free
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I love to hear about their vision for the track. Reference tracks can be helpful.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to the demo's that vocalists have on their page. Ideally ask if you can hear more examples of their voice and music. That way you can already get a feel for what their voice can do, and what not. I for example have a whole catalogue of songs to get a feel for my style.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Uff. I just need 4: My laptop, interface, Mic and guitar. Ok maybe splice aswell ;)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up in Germany, The United States and Chile. After studying music production and being on The Voice of Germany, I got signed as a professional songwriter. I have been releasing music for the last 10 years with over 60 Million streams to my name
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: This is from my bio: Growing up with a love for melancholic indie music, his characteristically soft vocals and warm melodies add a nostalgic depth to each production.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think a Hannes / The Weeknd collab would take the world by storm.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: You want the secret sauce, don't you? Well what has changed my vocal production is the plug in: Gem Dopamine. It adds beautiful high-end without being too harsh.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I almost do all genres, but mostly all types of electronic music, pop, ballads and indie.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My voice is especially great for songs that need an emotional, warm or soft touch.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: 10 years of professional experience and skill, hard work ethic and good vibes :)
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to hear about my clients vision for the song. What artists, songwriters and singers inspire them. Then, I will go ahead and usually try out melody ideas that I think would fit the song. Once locked in, I write fitting lyrics and record the final vocals.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I am lucky to have multiple studios at my disposal. My day to day studio has an UAD Apollo Twin interface, Shure SM7b Microphone & Rode Condensor Microphone. For special requests I have access to big professional studios with all types of high-end and vintage microphones. But most of the time my standard set-up sounds exactely right.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Too many to count. I am a big fan of emotional electronic music with artists such as AVAION or Fredagain. I also love indie & pop music in the style of Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles or more folky artists such as Bon Iver.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: 90% of the time I get to record vocals on the instrumental ideas of my clients. Sometimes there are already pre-written songs or AI vocals that I re-record with my voice. Other times my clients ask me to write a new topline (melody and lyrics) over their existing instrumental. I am a professional signed songwriter, so this is one of my favorite things to do. I also play the guitar and offer vocal production services.
