Interview with It's Nature
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I made a team song for Metaforce(A Global Crypto currency Company) I made the song in collaboration with Lyusia. I made the beat, wrote the song and sang most part of the song. Lyusia sang the second verse and we did duet the chorus and she did some add lips.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Working on an EP for EM.Seyi.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I'll make friends here pretty soon. For now I'm really new here.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital with necessary analog inputs. It's easy to control and less expensive especially on the side of the clients.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Smooth working relationship, proper communication and a production that suits their expectations and concepts.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My originality. Rich melodies.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask...Do you think the job is good enough? I tell them...there's really no rule to it,immediately the song or work gets proper visibility it begins to sound as amazing as other mega hits out there.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: They may think I'm too serious and blunt till they work with me. Most clients may be sceptical about my inputs till they feel the effect on the job.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do you want to achieve with the work? Have you worked with other producers before? I ask for their previous projects so I can give them a better job based on their budget. How urgent is the job? Do you need my inputs?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to previous works first. Check for Professionalism and industry standard gears. Check out for smooth communication. Check out the personality, credibility and professional integrity.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A laptop,Headphones,SoundCard,Microphone and a midi keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing music production for over a decade. I started from the church where I learnt bits of different music instruments and singing skills. From the church I started learning and recording at a music studio(a digital studio) same time i was playing live music with other musicians. I do live sound Engineering too so I worked as a sound Engineer when I wasn't playing a music instrument. I play the guitars with other musicians. Now I run mostly studio productions and less of live productions.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My sound is a blend of Afro and R&B. Most importantly...I love my sound to sound as real as possible. To achieve that,I use samples and tones that sounds very real and less of synthetic tones and samples.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Kizz Daniel. I love how his vocals come through on a beat,it makes the beat sound even better. I love his melodies too. I could help with his harmonies and simple sing-along choruses.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Take choruses and hooks seriously in all songs (rich melodies)because that's what most listeners remember always and it helps a song stick to the listener even when they don't understand the language used in the song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All kinds of music that falls under my genre Afrobeats/AfroPop. It could be love songs,up tempo dance tracks and club bangers. Conscious, inspirational and gospel songs. I make cool music for jingles and movie Soundtracks too.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I make beats with really sweet melodies. I'm very good in pitch corrections. I massively supply melodies and harmonies. I easily come up with hooks and choruses for different songs ideas and concepts.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try my best to make a beat that really gives life to the song and because I sing too, helping with the melodies and harmonies comes through me naturally. I also help my clients with lyrical ideas when necessary.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I get to listen to my clients first...understand what they really need is most important to me before I begin the process. I take references from my clients and I also make suggestions. I hit my studio and make the production, listen through before sending to my clients to listen then I wait for possible corrections before the final product.
