Sam Wheat on SoundBetter

Sam Wheat is a recording/mix engineer, programmer and producer who has spent the last 4 years as Chief Engineer for Metropolis Studios in West London during which time he has has worked on number 1, top 10 and Platinum selling records.

Sam’s career began as an assistant to James Sanger at Vibey Productions in France, following which he spent 2 years as a full time studio assistant to Mike Hedges at Westside Studios. In 2006 he worked as a freelance engineer working at most London studios until he joined Metropolis in 2008.

A talented all-rounder, Sam has worked with a vast range of artists and producers (Ed Harcourt, Rodney Jerkins, Fraser T Smith, Fernando Garibay, Owen Morris) across a wide range of genres and is as comfortable with a microphone as he is behind a mixing desk.

As well as mixing a series of live shows for DVD release, Sam has led the resurgence in the live to vinyl recording technique where bands perform and are recorded and mixed direct to an acetate disc – no overdubs, no edits, no recalls!
