I'm a freshly Berklee trained mixing and mastering engineer who can get you professional level quality for a fraction of the price of more established engineers. I was awarded the Christopher Yeoman Scholarship from Berklee for outstanding achievement in Music Production & Engineering, and I was taught by multiple grammy-winning engineers.
I'm a music lover who has been consumed by this passion for what feels like my whole life. There is nothing else I care more about. I've played drums for 14 years, bass for 9, and guitar for 8. I started working in Pro Tools when I was only about 13 years old. I taught myself to produce through late middle and high school, working with local Little Rock artists to help them craft their sound through a small record label called Hand in Hand Records (I did recording, mixing, mastering, and even a lot of part-writing). This upbringing led to me becoming very deeply entrenched in the world of music production, as well as the sounds of plenty of different genres: pop, rock, hip-hop, metal, and folk to name a few. I then applied to Berklee College of Music where I got in with a significant enough scholarship to go, and was then accepted into their exclusive Music Production & Engineering program in which I was taught basically everything I now know about DAWs, acoustics, real-studio workflow, etc. and achieved an awarded scholarship before ultimately transferring to Independent Recording & Production, their "home studio" focused degree. I now know a lot about how to make you sound stadium-ready from the comfort of my own home, and am armed with extensive mixing/mastering knowledge that I gained from the likes of Pat Viala, Ariel Borujow, Chad Blinman, and other experts.

Endorse Will Caig1 Reviews

When it came to mastering my duo's album, With Someone Alone, Will Caig brought to the table a highly technical perspective. Selecting each plugin based on what the song needed to bring it to its full potential, Will not only completely upgraded the sound of the project, but also walked us through his entire process, being fully transparent. I saw in real time my record go from sounding like another file in my Google Drive to rivaling the sounds of mainstream music. An extremely talented engineer and producer, I'm nothing but happy with Will Caig's work and will have him on future projects.
Interview with Will Caig
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. You need to be making use of every single one of the tools that is at your disposal. It's a hindrance on yourself if you don't.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will get you sounding any particular way you want to sound, with the utmost scrutiny and attention to detail for every track, every component, and every effect. I will tirelessly reference the sound of your music against existing exceptional works by established artists to ensure that the fidelity and aesthetics are up to snuff.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Have a detailed understanding of what different effects are truly used for within a mix. For example, many people think a compressor is used to make things sound big. Quite the opposite, it literally makes things smaller, if you consider "big" and "small" to be terms of dynamic range. There is a massive, massive difference between the ideas of VOLUME (average level of amplitude) and SIZE (difference between the loudest and quietest parts of a signal). A "big" sound might not actually feel big because it just has too much range, and is often ducking under the other elements and poking itself back out again. What people really mean when they say, "use a compressor to sound big," is actually use a compressor to sound small so you can push it much LOUDER. Every good, modern lead vocal is SMALL and LOUD, taking up just the right amount of space at the top of the track so it can stay in the limelight.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pharrell, JID, Baby Keem, Andy Wallace, Eric Valentine
