An OCD sound nut. If something doesn’t sound right It needs to be fixed.
Ever since I can remember I was into electronics.
Started my professional career in 2004 as a Sound Tech for night clubs.
I was fixing amps ,speakers ,DJ and Live gear, tweaking the sound profiles until those clubs sounded the loudest and clearest the equipment can possibly give. Many years of being exposed to this equipment trained my ear to know what frequency spectrum is the reference in clubs, cars , homes , everywhere.
If it doesn’t sound right I can’t even stay in the room until it’s fixed.

Interview with Chip Parallax
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Balanced.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Vintage japanese gear and paper cones on my drivers. Titanium or coated speakers don’t have a place in my sound rooms.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Vintage Division Check him out!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Balance.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: It all started with electronics, nothing was safe in my house , I had to disassemble everything to learn how it works. Started building speakers and amplifiers, sold them to make some cash as a kid. Got a job as a Sound Engineer for various nightclubs back home; A short and very fun touring DJ career; A short and equally as fun 3D Mapping VJ career; Designed and built the AV systems for 5 nightclubs in Birmingham UK, this was and still is very satisfying to accomplish.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Designing another club in Birmingham UK. Mixing a very good band in Poland .
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! They both have their strengths and limitations, digital is convenient, analog is warmer and more close to my heart. Digital sounds clinical and precise until you clip it, I’d have analogue clipping any day over digital.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The dopamine rush of a completed project. No drug even comes close to that.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I do only one thing, I do many things.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Show me a couple of track that you really love, it says more about you and what you’d like to achieve than you think.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Take the leap!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: my iPod classic, my headphones, a solar battery, duct tape, a knife. It’s a deserted island, i’m all about survival here.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Michael Jackson, the guy had a spark that’s missing in today’s music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Cut rather than boost.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic music, although music is music no matter what was used to produce it. Mixing a rock band atm and loving every second of it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Give me any sound system or any track and at least one EQ, leave me there for a bit and you’ll hear my strongest skill.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Balance.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Sometimes I have to procrastinate and do the dishes first, not a typical person.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Frederick Jay Rubin , Michael Jackson , Martin L Gore , Jean Michelle Jarre, Hans Zimmer , State of Mind , Surgeon.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Fine tuning their AV needs.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’ve designed and fitted the AV systems for Snobs Nightclub in Birmingham UK. I was in charge of overseeing the whole operation.
