Session Musician/Composer

I'm a skilled multi-instrumentalist specialising in guitar, bass and banjo - all of which have been showcased in a variety of releases and performance credits, that have included gigging extensively throughout the UK and Spain. I'm also a recent graduate of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts where I specialised in media composition.

Hi, I'm Max Holden and I'm an established session musician and freelance media composer based in Liverpool.

I've worked extensively as a skilled multi-instrumentalist but am primarily a guitarist having worked on a whole variety of projects in which I've gained plenty of performance and recording experience. These have notably included backing numerous local acts such as Bella Wright and a few legendary artists of the scene like It's Immaterial and The Farm as well as touring internationally with Spanish artist Amparo Sanchez of Amparanoia fame. I also spend a large portion of my time writing, recording and performing with my own band, Arcadia Ego who have been making a mark on the North West's alternative scene.

Besides this, I have also previously been a member of the acclaimed Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Session Orchestra and have gigged regularly with a variety of big bands across the region. These experiences in particular have been great for my knowledge of scoring which is greatly reflected in my compositional work. My biggest venture in this field to date has been the independent film 'The Felt' released earlier in 2025 which I scored, arranged and produced entirely.
