I am a pro harmonica player - primarily in the blues style but I can tackle any style. Harmonica influences: Micky Raphael, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Magic Dick. I write dynamic songs that pack a punch. I write in all genres. I have a wide vocal range, from Leonard Cohen to Chris Isaak. I am highly creative.
Testimonials about my harmonica playing & songwriting:
"The burning wail of the harmonica and smouldering lyrics help to distinguish Jamesy the True from the thousands of others in the folk-roots genre." - exclaim! magazine
“Jamesy The True is an artistic triple threat.” - CBC Radio, Daybreak North.
"Haunting vocals. Strong Songwriting." - Monday Magazine
"Layer upon layer of rootsy goodness." - 101.9 FM CFUV Radio
"Jamesy The True's songs find depth and nuance and explore emotions I can believe in. A joy to listen to.:
- Jo Beverley, New York Times Best-Selling Author.
If you need a well-written song that will turn heads, or a harmonica solo that will knock your socks off, I'm your guy.
I have been writing songs since I was 12 years old, and I'm now (mumble mumble), so that's quite a while.
While I couldn't fix your car or build a house to save my life, I was given some gifts within the realm of
creativity. In addition to being a songwriter, singer, harmonica player, and rhythm guitarist, I am also a video editor, audio editor, voice actor, graphic designer, and copywriter. I have lived in British Columbia, Canada for most of my life, and I have a lifelong love affair with the Ocean (not Billy), The Muse, and really good dark chocolate. I look forward to connecting with you!
