Hi, I’m Steffen at S& Box.
I'm a mix engineer and multi-instrumentalist based in Portland, OR. I specialize in mixing Rock, Indie, and band-oriented music and am in a band myself.
Method:
I approach every mix as a musician first. As a writer and performer I want to understand how the mix can compliment the work. I am listening to the music first. Then we will work to bring the fullest potential out through a collaborative approach.
My Workflow:
Mix/Master: I work primarily in Logic Pro with Waves plugins. I am proficient with other pro software as well like Pro Tools, Ableton, etc.
Digital Audio Tools: I primarily rely on my Waves collection for industry leading processing and the Arturia V Collection for high-quality keys.
Analog Hybrid Options: While I mix digitally, I have a few amps as well as outboard gear. If a track needs it, I can re-amp guitars, bass, or vocals through real hardware to add that extra character.
Additional Services :
I can provide tracking from our network of players and/or re-amping your dry original tracks here at the studio.
Rhythm Section: Live Drums and Bass guitar.
Guitars: Electric and acoustic tracking.
Keys/Synths: Textures and pads using the Arturia collection
