A multi-genre mixing engineer based in Seoul. I love mixing music. It's simply what I do best. That's why I do this for a living.
Hi! I'm Oceanwave, a multi-genre mixing engineer based in Seoul.
While I'm physically in Seoul, my ears are global. I built this profile to connect with creative minds across borders.
[My Roots]
As a Producer turned Mixer, I speak your language. I won't blindly smash your track with compressors. I listen first. I am here to complete your vision, not reinvent it.
[Why I Mix Everything]
I am a musical omnivore, from Hyperpop to Heavy Metal. To me, every song is special. I understand the unique DNA of your genre.
[The Workflow: It's 2026]
Stems are outdated. Your 3 God Particles and 5 OTTs on the Master Bus are your aesthetic. Standard "Export Stems" often strips this away, sounding nothing like your rough mix. Don't let technicalities kill that chaotic beauty.
Here is the plan:
Send the Project File (Ableton, FL, Studio One, Logic, Pro Tools).
Include a Rough Mix (Crucial! I need to hear your vision).
Send Stems too (Backup).
Remote Sessions: I support real-time revisions via Zoom, Discord, or Audiomovers. We can tweak details together as if we are in the same room.
Compatibility? I own 99.9% of the plugins on Earth. If I don't have yours? I will buy it immediately.
I'm ready to listen. Let's get to work!

Endorse Oceanwave1 Reviews

I have been working with Oceanwave for the past six months on a total of twelve songs and the experience has been consistently excellent. His mixes are clean detailed and musical but what truly sets him apart is the full experience he provides. The turnaround time is fast communication is clear and he is always open to new ideas.
He understands the artist’s vision and elevates it while keeping the process smooth and efficient. Every collaboration has been enjoyable and professional and I genuinely hope to continue working with him in the future.
Interview with Oceanwave
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recently mixed 'Out of Love' by SCENE. The track was so inspiring that the process didn't feel like work—it was pure joy. I simply got lost in shaping the sound.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently mixing for the global label Epidemic Sound. I am also actively working on K-Drama Soundtracks (OSTs) and collaborating with various independent artists.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Tools are just paintbrushes; I focus on the painting. The listeners don't care about the gear—they care about the song. Personally, I prefer Digital (In-The-Box). In today's fast-paced industry where quick revisions are essential, sticking to analog gear isn't my style. I choose the workflow that serves the art, not the equipment.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: 100% Satisfaction or 100% Refund.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love listening to music. It is a privilege to mix songs that I genuinely enjoy. But what I love most is connecting with artists. There is a special kind of magic in understanding your creative intent and helping you develop the track exactly according to your vision. Being a trusted partner in that journey is the best part of this job.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: "Can you make my track sound exactly like [Famous Artist]?" A: "I can certainly match the sonics and texture of your reference. However, I always remind them: Your music is unique. We can use that artist as a stylistic guide, but my goal is not to turn you into a copycat. Let's aim for that level of quality, but keep the sound distinctly YOU."
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mixing is just applying "Secret Formulas." I don't blindly chain an 1176 into an LA-2A just because it's the "Standard Pop Vocal Chain.. Every plugin choice I make is a reaction to what I hear in your track, not what a textbook says I should do.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: "What is the emotion of this song?" "What do you love about your rough mix?" "What do you hate about your rough mix?" "Who are your sonic references?"
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Hire someone who truly understands your musical vision. Technical skills are just the baseline; taste and empathy are what matter most. Don't just look for a technician to balance faders. Look for a partner who understands the "why" behind your music and respects your creative intent.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I only need 2 things: 1. My MacBook. 2. My trusty Sennheiser HD660S2. Give me these two, and I can mix a record anywhere.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a producer simply trying to make my own music sound better. That curiosity led me to engineering, and I have been actively mixing records for the past 5 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I work across all genres, My strength lies in subtlety: I use small moves to drastically amplify the song's emotional impact. I don't just make it loud; I make it felt.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jakob Ogawa. His music makes me turn off my 'engineer brain.' I stop analyzing frequencies and just let the vibe take over. It reminds me of the pure joy of music—closing my eyes and falling into a daydream."
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't try to sound exactly like someone else. References are good for direction, but every song has its own unique DNA and personality. The most important thing is to express yourself fully. The world doesn't need another copy; it needs your original sound.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I am a genre-fluid mixer. My recent works range from Hip-Hop to Indie Rock and R&B. If it has a groove and a melody, I can mix it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Genre Fluidity. I am not tied to a single style. Whether it's the aggression of Hip-Hop, the polish of Pop, or the raw texture of Indie Rock, I understand the sonic language of each genre. I adapt my mixing technique to serve the song, not the other way around.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A Producer's Perspective. Since I started as a producer, I don't just hear frequencies; I hear arrangements and emotions. I know which elements need to shine and which ones need to support. I bring clarity without killing the chaos.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listen: I listen to your Rough Mix 10 times before touching a fader. Analyze: I define the core emotional elements of your song. Enhance: I mix to enhance the emotion, not just to balance frequencies. Polish: We revise until it's perfect. No ego involved.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It's a Digital Spaceship. I run a high-spec MacBook Pro built for heavy lifting, ensuring I never have to freeze a track. DAW: Pro Tools Ultimate (but I open Ableton/Logic/FL projects too). Plugins: I own almost every plugin in existence (UAD, FabFilter, SoundToys, Plugin Alliance, etc.). I believe in having every color on the palette available.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jeff Ellis is my favorite record mixer in the world. He changed how I listen to music. I deeply admire his philosophy of prioritizing 'feeling' and 'vibe' over technical perfection.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in Mixing. Specifically, taking a producer's "Rough Mix" and elevating it into a "Finished Record" without losing the original vibe.
