Interview with Pubudu - nova@2am

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: “NO REASON WHY” — a commercial pop song I developed from concept through lyrics and topline, built around a strong hook and clear emotional direction.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Developing original commercial songs and collaborating with artists, vocalists and producers on custom projects.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes. I’ve worked with artists, singers, topliners and producers on SoundBetter who know my songwriting and can speak to the quality and talent of my work.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I’ll understand the artist and brief first, and always put the quality and commercial potential of the song first.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Taking an idea and turning it into a finished song that feels like it belongs to the artist.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: That songwriting is simply putting words and melody together. The right concept, story, structure and hook all have to work together.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: I ask about the artist, background, story, style, audience, references and what they want the song to achieve.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Choose someone talented who takes the time to understand the artist and project before writing.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: Commercial, melodic and story-driven, with a strong focus on memorable songwriting.

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: Bruno Mars. His combination of songwriting, rhythm, personality and mainstream appeal is exactly the kind of creative space I’d love to work in.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Commercial pop, contemporary pop, R&B, dance-pop, crossover, arena, folk, rap, country and K-pop. I adapt to the artist and project rather than staying within one genre.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Turning an artist’s idea, story or brief into a commercially viable song.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: I bring strong concepts, storytelling, memorable hooks and songwriting tailored specifically to the artist.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I study the artist, their background and brief, then develop the concept, story, lyrics and melody. I refine everything around the artist rather than forcing a fixed formula.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Max Martin and Ryan Tedder inspire me for their songwriting, melodies, storytelling and commercial appeal.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: I write commercially viable songs customised to each artist or project. I study their background, style and brief, then build the song around what suits them.
