Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog for recording and digital for mixing. Using analog gear during record process allows you to capture some unique sounds with beautiful colors. Digital technologies are the key to fast and effective workflow during mixing, so you can recall your sessions quickly.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: MacBook, some nice small interface (bus powered would be the best), a pair of my Super Cubes (let's count it as one piece), some closed headphones and my small but powerful TLM102. I hope there are some XLRs on the island.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm in music for 15 years as a guitarist and for about 10 years as a recordist.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Know when to leave the song alone.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Listening to client's wishes and understanding them.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Brew a nice coffee, listen some well recorded music and then do everything it takes to make it sound the best possible.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My small studio is built around Macbook Pro and I work 99% in-the-box. I have UA Apollo interface with an additional Focusrite converter. My monitor speakers are a pair of DMAX Super Cubes with a subwoofer. Also I use a pair of Yamaha HS50 as an additional control. To record sound waves I use some mics such as Neumann TLM102, Shure SM57 and a pair of ribbons RM BIV-1.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Primarily I record and produce myself. I'm able to do mixing, editing and also can help you with full production.
