Federico "Tio" Ariztegui on SoundBetter

Recording and Mixing Engineer/Producer in Buenos Aires , Argentina area. Over 25 years experience.(+20 of them in ProTools). Credited on more than 150 records (8 Platinum Records).

Throughout the years I have played in multiple aspects of music production. Composition, arrangements. production, playing, post-production, recording, editing, mixing and mastering. However, I began to realize that the place where I feel most useful to facilitate the development of the artists with whom I work is mixing. I like to get involved with the needs and goals of the artist and apply all my background to the service of it in a fast and focused way. I have many tools available in my studio to obtain a great result, but the ones I value the most are experience, sensitivity, hearing and judgment.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

There's little I can say that would accurately convey the level of skill, professionalism, kindness, and dedication that Federico brings to his work. I'm grateful for this -- and for so much more -- and would choose him, again and again, without reservation.

Federico is one of the most refined professional mixing engineer I have ever worked with. He is also a producer and musician. Having the ability to wear so many hats makes him so unique as an artist.
He is not only an amazing mixing engineer, he is also a really down to earth guy that never stress out.
When you check his credit list, you would be able to tell how diverse he is. I would recommend Federico hands down for mixing any kind of genre.

I have been working with "El Tio" Ariztegui for more than 25 years in countless albums and projects, both in study and live situations.
Simply one of the best decisions that you can make in a musical project, is to hire El Tio.

I've been working together with Federico for about twenty years in studio, as well as in live shows and tours, and the word that could define his professional profile is "reliability".
He is a sound engineer in constant evolution and who transmits a lot of serenity to the artists, even when an unexpected problem arises.
And he has a plus that is very necessary for me when we live together for hundreds of hours in hotels or studios: a great sense of humor.

Federico “Tio” Ariztegui is one of the best professionals I’ve had the pleassure to work with.
He has work with me for several music projects for TV shows and artist such as “Atraccion x 4”, “Consentidos”, “Javier Eloy”, “Sebastián Athié”, and much more.
His work Recording, editing, and mixing has a level of perfection that can compete the best producers there are on the industry. This is a result of many hours of hard creative work , but as well as the fact that he is not just a great Engeneer, but also he is a great musician, and that gives him a bigger perspective of the hole picture.

Interview with Federico "Tio" Ariztegui

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital. Recall time, audio precision on recalls and sound quality.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Latin Pop-Rock

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Experience

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: Emotion and Pro sound

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Connect with the emotion of the song and stay focus there. That way the decisions that you make will always go in the right direction. Use your brain to develop your techniques but use your emotion to develop your art.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I must say that I no longer work in large consoles as I used to do. The problems associated with the loss of time in recalls, the impossibility of reproducing exactly the mixes added to the quality that today have the plug-ins processors and the smoothness of the workflow have overturned me for a while to make exclusively mixes in the box . For this I have a personal studio where I have the necessary tools and I feel comfortable and comfortable to focus on what really matters about a production. Music.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I usually mix. It's what I love doing. I really enjoy it because every time it is new and challenging and I feel that it is where I can offer my best. I also do track editions (quantization, tuning, etc.) with great skill since I have been using ProTools for more than 20 years.Besides these years of experience and the fact of being a musician have also given me a differential of quality in the production and the focus of the artistic approach.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: It is hard to say given that there is so much talent and good work out there. But I've always been inspired by great producers, mixers and artists from Bruce Swedien, Alan Parsons, Steve Lillywhite, Hugh Padgham to Nigel Godrich or Mark Ronson.
