Nashville pro/hit songwriter and vocalist, specializing in contemporary vocal styles, a la Dierks Bentley or Keith Urban vibes. Pop/Rock background, as well
Hey y'all, it's Mason - thanks for checking out my page and I'd love to work with you on your project! On the sample track to the right, all tracks are produced, written, and mixed by me, with my vocals on the first 4 (cowriter Christie Huff on the 5th). I've done literally hundreds of demos and artist projects here in Nashville, with lead vocals as well as backgrounds. I cover a wide range of styles from "traditional with a twang" all the way through more Pop and polished sounds - it's your choice! All vocals can be tuned, as well as edited and aligned for the project. I'm also happy to mix them into your existing track, as an option. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks again for checking things out!
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Mason Douglas is THE truth! You want authentic Nashville pro vocals? I'm talkin' the kind that send chills down your spine and give you a grin so wide it looks like someone shoved a coat hanger in your mouth. I'm talkin' tracks so clean you could eat off them – and harmonies so beautiful they make the angels cry. I'm talkin' a guy who's in an elite class of talent...but makes you feel like you're his best friend. 100% pro. 100% perfection. REAL Nashville vocals!

Mason was amazing to work with! He captured exactly what I was looking for AND he did it in a flash! I tried a couple other singers b4 him, none of them came close to what I wanted. I was ready to give up on the song, then Mason stepped in and saved the day! I HIGHLY recommend hiring him. I already know I'll be hiring him again with 100% confidence in the near future. Thank you again Mason. You're great! God Bless you. Glenn

The producer who mixed Mason's vocals on my song emailed me to say "that vocalist has absolutely smashed It and has made that song come alive…Bravo to that singer! Those stems he sent were brilliant". I think that speaks for itself.

Excellent vocal performance, great job, fast turnaround, exactly as required!

Mason is the "secret sauce" vocalist I've been searching for! These tracks are pristine! (You'd expect that from Nashville.) But, in addition – Mason always knows exactly how to interpret a lyric to make it more than just words...more like a story, a feeling. A great demo singer? Yeah, more like an alchemist. 'Cause he can take my rusty demos and turn them into...gold.

Mason is a force of nature! I read it over and over in comments about his vocals: "Even better than I could ever imagine." I'm a believer! See, now THIS is why we hire Nashville for kickass country tracks – and Mason? He's among Nashville's best! Even the dry, solo tracks are giving me chills! I can't wait to drop these vocals into the master and get into the mix. Mason checked all my boxes: Authentic, Pro, Tons of Vocal 'Attitude'...plus, the guy's nicer than the day is long. #BlownAway.

Once again, Mason delivered a great lead vocal with stellar backing tracks. So professional, efficient, and willing to delve into any issues that come up, and provide a solution. Love working with him

Interview with Mason Douglas
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an in-home studio with Pro Tools 2020 running on an iMac, interfaced with a UAD Apollo and vocals piped through an AKG 414c. Some of the fun toys that make the projects are resonator/baritone/Nashville-tuned acoustics, Telecaster/Stratocaster/Gibson Les Paul electrics, a Native Instruments Maschine, and thousands of sound and programming option.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I like most about being a producer and in the music industry is the independence. I have a new boss with every client, I get to be my most creative self, and my "cubicle" kicks ass - it's a great (and fortunate!) position to be in.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Philip Pence for bass and mixing needs....Greg Strizek for editing and mixing...Kris Bradley for vocals and production. Close friends that I respect and love.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To get the project even better than you original imagined it!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would suggest making sure there's communication about how on the nose you'd like to stay to the melody and phrasing. Staying right on it is no problem whatsoever but if you have an open mind for some variation, that's great to know so that I/we can experiment a little with the approach. Makes it interesting for everyone!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been a professional musician and songwriter for nearly 10 years in Nashville - I was on an indie label with major distribution and was able to do an album and tour before landing a publishing deal, getting a few cuts, and developing a feel for how the industry works. Nowadays, I continue to write and work with aspiring artists in town, as well as cowriter and produce commercial releases.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's quick and easy. It is not. But it's worth it.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are some references, both in vocal style and instrumentation, that you'd like your track to emulate? Are there any looming deadlines?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would love to write with/track with/hang with Counting Crows. I think their collective interpretations of Adams lyrics into some classics would be amazing to watch. There are dozens of others that would be surreal but that'd be the top one.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Practice makes perfect! Practice, practice, practice...then practice some more. That's the true secret, no matter how much we don't want to believe it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work that I do in the industry is track production and vocals, both of my own material as well as client projects. I specialize mainly in the Country and Pop but have also heavy experience in Rock and Hip Hop, both in tracks as well as vocal projects.
