Eliud Is not a mixing and mastering engineer, he is a Magician !!
I gave him 10 songs for mixing and mastering , he returned to me a totally different 10 songs !! Eliud was very professional, very patient and very nice guy. This was our first experience with Soundbetter, we believe that having Eliud among their list is quite enough to come back again .

Eliud mixed and mastered our last track. We are very impressed with all of hard work and time that Liu put into our music. Communication was excellent, and we gave us everything he got and made our song his as well.

Eliud is a beast! As pro as you can get! The mixes he did for me sound awesome. There was great communication from the start. Eliud is a real pleasure to work with. He was able and willing to address the very minor adjustments to the mix I requested. I highly recommend Eliud's mixing services! I'll definitely be working with him on future projects.

This was my first mixing and mastering experience and Eluid has set the bar extremely high. His knowledge of music and experience is impeccable. He continued to improve the mix even when I thought it was great, his ear is great. Friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommend.

    Liu is legend!

I had excellent communication and turnaround of the tracks I wanted with rough mixes to show the direction of travel to begin with. This was really appreciated and meant I was able to trust we were on the same page and he gave me a lot of encouragement in the music.

Liu showed professional engagement, genuine enthusiasm, understanding when I wanted to tweak aspects of the sound, responsive to adjustments, offered his own insight and the quality of his mix was incredible!

Eliud took our mix and turned it into a full and well rounded professional song. He was with us on every step asking for our opinion and being very focused on what we wanted to achieve. He turns into another member of the band and doesn't rest 'till the song is perfect. 100% totally recommend him!

Time and time again Eliud has proven himself to be the finest mastering engineer I could imagine. The levels that Eliud takes my music is beyond what I thought the music could go. He is enthusiastic, willing, talented, and most of all he takes consideration into what is best for THAT track in particular, as a-pose to presets mastering. I have used other mastering engineers previously to Eliud but never considered looking elsewhere from the moment he mastered my first Single. HIGHLY Recommended.

    Amazing job! Recommended!

  12. Review by Matthew G.

Eliud is a serious engineer. If you want someone who is passionate and ready to work he's your man! My song needed a lot of different revisions and tweaks. And Eliud was willing to keep working to make sure everything turned out well! I even had to leave and go on a trip, and when I came back he was still accessible and willing to work with me. Creating music is a very tedious process and having a dedicated Engeneer like Eliud has made a huge difference.

Eliud's work on my project was top-notch, and I am totally pleased with the results he got. During our initial conversations, he really listened to my ideas and told me truthfully what was possible and doable on my budget (given the fact that I didn't have multi-track source material). I appreciate such honesty and professionalism, and I highly recommend Eliud for mixing and mastering work.

Amazing the only word that remotely even comes close to the experience I had with Eliud. Please believe the hype there is a reason why this guys credit sheet is so long.I have never worked with a engineer, that was dedicated to seeing my songs vision come to life. The art of music is still alive because people like Eliud exist. This guy was a blessing from above

First time working with Eliud on a track and definitely not the last. He has a vast musical knowledge as well as passion for the song. He took my song and added that little extra that I couldn't have thought of taking the song to the next level. He is very reliable and works quick to achieve a great result. Pleasure to work with. In the words of my husband: Eliud has a sophisticated ear. He produced a vintage yet modern sound on the mix he did for us, which is so infectious.

As an Artist Manager, Producer and Label Owner I have had the extreme pleasure of working with some of the giants in this industry of music. I have worked w/ Teddy Riley, Quincy Jones and Bruce Swedien. I have watched Liu mature as a musician and a mix engineer. Lui is my go2guy because he understands frequencies and how they go together make a superior sounding record. If you want that knock he will give it to you without compromising quality and if there is an adjustment that you may require one phone call or text to Lui & he is own it w/o having ANY ego about it. In 2 words "the Greatest"

Interview with Eliud "Liu" Ortiz

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Lenny Kravitz and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: I don't know anyone on here.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: My Computer, Speakers, Tablet, guitars and guitar amps

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: Any artist that loves music, and I am mean truly. But if I had to be specific I would say Pantera. But being that the Abbott Brothers are dead I guess that will never happen.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I work on a little of everything. Hip hop, Latin, Pop Reggae and rock(metal). I LOVE music!! All MUSIC!!! Well maybe not all. LMAO!

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: I like to listen to the song demo before I start mixing a song at least a few times to get a feel of the song and to see the direction the writer , artist or producer was going in. As I am mixing the song I strive to carry that feel over to the mix. As well I talk to and listen to what the producer has to say in what he or she wants. They have to express themselves to me as to how they see the song. I am rather old school.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Sure just Listen! Listen to the producer. Listen to artist and most importantly Listen to the music your making.

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: They ask me at times "do I mind trying something different?" While working on the song. And my answer is "let's do it!

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: My strongest skill is my ability to understand and translate what the artist and producer want to hear from their song.

  19. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  20. A: To many to mention. But one of my favorites is when I mixed a record for Luther Vandross on his album "The Best Of Love" Volume II, the song is "It's All About You" . It was a real pleasure to work with him and it felt so natural because I listened to him for so long from a child to adulthood. That mix just flowed so smoothly from me.

  21. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  22. A: Both!!!! Why not!!!

  23. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  24. A: You will be happy!

  25. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  26. A: I love the creativity that it allows me to have.

  27. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  28. A: That anyone and everyone can Mix or Record. Especially with these one button plugins.

  29. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  30. A: What is it that you want this song to sound like? Or what do you feel it should be.

  31. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  32. A: Make sure that you hire someone that doesn't see you as a dollar sign. Because if he does he'll only put in as much work as you pay him.

  33. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  34. A: Ok the abridged version is I started as an intern cleaning tiolets and making coffee at a studio in midtown Manhattan called Sound works(the original). And worked my way up to eventually recording engineer to mixing engineer. Through many different studios.

  35. Q: How would you describe your style?

  36. A: I have a very flexible, open and solid mix stlye.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: I bring my love for music and the ability to bring the song to it's Pinnacle. I want to bring everything out of the song and heard with a clarity of the stereo vision.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I am a devout analog console engineer that works in the Box everything has a sound like it came out of a console stereo bus. That being said I use a custom PC I built myself 32 gb of RAM with a Intel processor. I use Dangerous Audio 2 Bus+,and Monitor St. for my analog bookend. And for my conversion needs I use RME UFX+ and as pre-amp needs RME Octamic2. And for plug-ins to long a list.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I was inspired very much by Tony Maserati, Andy Wallace and Goh Hotoda. Simple the Pinnacle of engineering and production!!!
