I have been a music enthusiast all my life and a musician for the past 10 years. I got interested in the behind the scenes parts of music creation and in 2016 I started studying at the “Academy of Arts” in Belgrade and there I have been working on all kinds of different projects, mainly mixing and mastering. This engineer knows how to make audio feel 3-dimensional. The sound stage that he built with my tracks is miraculous. Each track in the song seems to be placed meticulously with purpose. The mix feels more than just left and right, but rather a fully immersive 360° experience.

Interview with Uros Sibinovic

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mike Dean, Alex Tumay, Serban Ghenea, Jaycen Joshua, Steve Albini, Fiona Apple, Kurt Ballou, James Murphy, Kevin Shields
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work completely in the box using a lot of plug-ins that emulate vintage analog gear and for monitoring I use Sennheiser HD650 that have been calibrated using Sonarworks.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I did mixing and mastering work for the musical "My Country, My Country" which is a multi-genre musical that centres around the nexus point of Congolese independence. I'm really proud to have been a part of bringing this amazing and inspiring story to life.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will work until you're happy with the finished results.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Compare mixes and talk to people about your songs before deciding who you are going to work with.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask if they have a deadline for the project and if they have any references for the mix/master.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I worked on all kinds of different genres, but I mainly focus on rock, indie/alternative rock, metal, pop and singer-songwriter.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I'll start by talking to the client about the sound and the emotion of the song that they're looking. After that I listen to the song a couple of times to try and get an idea of how the finish product will sound, what the main focus of the song should be and if any vocals or instruments need to be corrected. After that I'm just trying to get the sound out of my head and into the song.

A: Mainly mixing and mastering.
