Tim Viksand on SoundBetter

Founder and manager of Audio Records, a recording studio and exclusive label in the centre of Oslo. Lucky to have worked with a producer in Norway with legendary status. Like to call myself a versatile producer/engineer, but I´m mostly focusing on the genres pop, singer/songwriter or rock/metal. Enjoys good music that has an edge!

What I can offer is good collaboration to ensure that the music is going to sound the best as it can. I believe that good communication between producer and artist is important in the process of producing a song, combined with good ears, great gear and creative solutions, the result will be great!

I had the pleasure of working with Tim on a charity project a couple of years back. Tim lifted the quality of every detail in the project. From microphone adjustment to the mixing part. From strings to piano and drums. He's a very professional, but still humble and down to earth attitude.
Hope to work with Tim again.

I have collaborated with Tim internationally since April 2015. He has a great ear for good music, strives for innovation, expresses himself honestly, and is very professional. The creativity and energy he invests in projects inspire me to work harder. I trust his feedback and am always excited to hear his thoughts on how to strengthen my material.

I worked with Tim Viksand on my first album (inst., Harp). He did a great job experimenting with different microphones looking for that unique quality of sound I was looking for in my music. Tim is a hard working sound engineer with a great passion for his work, always eager to try out new ideas to find that special sound.

Tim is as creative and open minded as he is technically skilled. He is one of the most sympathetic and accommodating people I have had the pleasure of working with. His great communication skills makes him a great interpreter and enables him to realize the musical potential of an un-schooled songwriter like myself.

Interview with Tim Viksand

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: I can bring the warmth, dynamic and the "closeness" feeling in a song. I don´t like it when the mixes get to compressed, but I want the song to be comfortable to listen to.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Tony Maserati and Dave Pensado are my inspiration. I really like their sound and how the manage to always highlight the most important elements in the songs.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I´m currently working with an artist called KLEIV. He is a singer/songwriter that plays piano and sings fantastic. He has a great ear for harmonies. My part in this project is a producer and mixer, but I also play some of the elements in the songs.
