Working closely with Phil Conalane from the highly acclaimed Irish rock bands; ‘Million Dollar Reload’ and more recently ‘Blackwater Conspiracy’ as well as UK based Acoustic, Indie and Rock bands, I've gained a huge amount of mixing experience in the music industry in my decade since graduating from top Conservatoire: Leeds College of Music.
My name is Malcolm Hawks and I go under the name 'tatami', and I typically do Japanese fusion rock but, I also do music scoring compositions and Hiphop beats. I have amassed over 200,000 streams across DSPs from songs that I have Recorded, Produced, Mixed and Mastered by myself. I also sing, play guitar, bass, and/or piano on every song.
The greatest asset in an EDM mix and mastering engineer is the creative ability to solve issues intelligently. EDM's sparse element space requires smart management. Focus must be on how the music is felt, while still considering technical correctness. Mixing and mastering electronic music is a complex, nuanced subject needing specialized expertise.
