Imagine if Randy Newman, Cole Porter, Steely Dan's Donald Fagen, and Gil Evans got together to throw ideas around. Randy picked the subject matter, Cole wrote the lyrics, Don composed the music, and Gil did the orchestrations. Well, that's what you get with me. I'm a singer/songwriter, and launched my first solo project after having been the lead singer in several bands including Wargirl [alt rock/afrobeat] with the Cold War Kids and Dead Right [pop-disco]. My solo sound is more in the lane of alternative R&B/indie pop, and the first single I released got the attention of none other than Rick Rubin.
