I am a non-prolific, non-consistent producer and vocalist who gets his kicks out of making people wait ages for new music. I will say, however, that when I do finally release something (Single, Album, EP), it's been made to a degree that I wholeheartedly believe meets the standards of quality and substance within each track. I am a musician/songwriter first, THEN a producer. If the production work on a song doesn't compliment the song itself and make it better, then it isn't good production. I put the songwriting and arranging above all else and make my production decisions based off what will compliment the song best, rather than what new cool synth I want to try.
