Interview with Josh Coe

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I won't stop working until you're happy. Even though creative projects can be difficult at times, I want to make sure the client is happy and can walk away from the experience satisfied.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Bringing an analytical mindset to creative problems.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I started producing music over 10 years ago while in engineering school. I moved to LA in 2013 to further pursue music production. As I was growing as a producer, I learned how to mix and master as well. I've been mixing and mastering for a little over 5 years now.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Most of my music is pop, indie pop, or adult contemporary, but I also do a lot of electronic, r&b, and rap music.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: I bring an analytical mind that asks questions and tries to find the best way to meet the clients needs.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I have my own home project studio. I produce and mix in the box using Logic Pro primarily, but I also have access to Pro Tools, Live, and Reason. I use an Apollo x8 for my audio interface. I use Focal Shape Twin monitors and Sennheisser HD650 headphones to produce and mix.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: A large portion of my work is helping artists take their songs to the next level. Whether that's providing the soundscape and production or providing a mix and master, I want to help find a way to bring out the very best in a song.
