Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Of course! I highly recommend my friends and professionals Davide Ruffini and Vic Cuccia: they work as mixing and mastering engineers, check them out if you are looking for an industry standard sound.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Super quality and clear communication. Some laughs as well :)
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I can work everywhere and have fun in the meanwhile. Songwriting is also a good therapy and a way to connect with people. And tuning vocals is so satisfying.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some might think vocal production can be done by anyone, but it requires a well-trained ear and can make a huge difference. Worth investing something on that, especially for vocals-driven projects.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer, Audio interface, Mouse, Mic and headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing ever since, but I seriously started making music 5 years ago. at 12 I did my 1st TV experience, at 17 I did The Voice, at 18 I did a songwriting course at CET (prestigious italian songwriting school). After Diploma I moved to the city and started working on my demos, and then writing for other people.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm a songwriter with some production knowledge and I'm a reliable Vocal Producer. I smoothly move into my DAW (Ableton). My focus is the voice.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Easier to carry around
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: POP but edgy.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: The list is too long...
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: try to use what's already good.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start from the client's requests and references and make sure they truly know what they want; if not, we can find references together. Having a starting point/reference is really important because not having them might make all of us waste precious time and energy; also, we're more likely to successfully finish the track earlier than what expected. It usually takes me several small sessions to finish a song, because I keep the client updated with all the changes I make and wait for their feedback before doing anything else. Once the song is fully written I record final vocals and do all the editing in 1/2 sessions. I usually start from the melody, then lyrics, then recording and editing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My home studio setup is smart and always evolving. My gear: Tascam US 2x2, Aston Spirit Microphone, Line6 PodHD500x, AKG k271 MKII, Shure SM58, Eko Mia CDWEQ acoustic guitar, AKG perception 120, Fender Stratocaster USA, Ibanez semiacoustic guitar, KORG microkey 49, ROLI seaboard block, Akai MPK mini MKII, IK Multimedia iLoud micro monitor, Akai LPK25. M-AUDIO axiom mini 32 air, Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. My computer is an ASUS VivoBook Pro.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I've been working on my project and collaborating with amazing producers from all around the world. I do writing camps every chance I get.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As a topliner/singer I bring a pop, girly, honest, intimate and energetic touch and involving beautiful harmonies. As a vocal editor I shape the vocals to their best.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually am hired as topliner: I write the topline melody, the lyrics, I perform the song and I do my editing and harmony arrangement and sometimes I mix my vocals. I'm also hired to edit vocals and record harmonies/dubs to existing songs.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Choose a provider who is able to meet your expectations, and know what you want. And send references.
