Music Producer, Songwriter

Luis Sequeira (B.Riddim) on SoundBetter

I'm a signed artist and I can't complain about what I achieved until so far. After Portugal I lived in Madrid, Vancouver, Mexico City, Amsterdam and now based on London since almost 8 years ago always working into the music/studio scene. I just wanna be inside of the magic or trying to do something with it. Working with passion, nothing better.

B.Riddim is Luis Sequeira, a Portuguese producer, songwriter and musician living in London. After a childhood studying classical piano he discovered sampling and Hip Hop beats during his teen years, eventually forming G-Ward, a Portuguese Hip-Hop collective in 2003 particularly popular in the city of Guarda.

Using the name Bellatur, Luis was the producer and one of the MCs in G-Ward. At the same time, he was discovering a passion for Jamaican music and culture, leading him to begin to develop a quite unique sound using electronics within a Dub sensibility.

Interview with Luis Sequeira (B.Riddim)

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I'll use a review from Hype Filter: "With his previous record ‘Magic My Ear’ garnering support from the likes of Pearson Sound, Ellen Allien, Emika and Benji B ‘Bubble Clocks’ shows B.Riddim continuing to flex his talent and lines up another stellar EP brimming with his trademark stepping drums, Dub indebted bass lines and rich, intricate synth work."

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I grew up producing Hip-Hop but with the time I started to be an open mind producer working essentially into the leftfield scene with fusion from Dub, Bass, Broken Beat mixed with an electronic sound.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: Usually I write music or I only focus on develop melodies and ideas from who hires my work as a producer. Major part I record, edit and mixing the song/songs and I give a final track. Sometimes I only work the recording, editing and mixing, depend what they are the client needs. I also create many jingles for radio purposes and I do sound design for TV and Radio as well.
