Keir Schmidt on SoundBetter

My name is Keir Schmidt. I'm a producer, composer, engineer, and mixer, living in Los Angeles. Most recently I co-composed the score to the show Single Drunk Female with Ryan Lott (Son Lux). I've also been the Associate Music Producer for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's company Hitrecord, where I produced on two Emmy Award winning TV shows.

I originally studied classical guitar and composition during college, and while there, I started to produce and compose for student films.

Fast forward to now, and I've been in LA for 9 years, where I've worked in every area of music. I've written and arranged for major motion pictures, and produced/mixed on Emmy Award winning television show.

When producing for artists, I'll often do everything from arranging, playing, hiring session musicians, and mixing. I've also worked in just about every genre and style. I'm comfortable recording metal guitars one moment, then turning around and writing string arrangements for a christmas song.

As a mixer, my biggest focus is bringing out dynamics, and making things sound natural. I was raised by voice teachers, so I have a thorough knowledge of the voice, which directly translates into how I produce and mix vocals.
