Johann Scheerer, born in 1982, started his first band Score when he was 15 years old and recorded his debut album in 1999 followed by a tour through Germany.
After his graduation from high school he signed a record deal for his solo project Karamel, founded his first recording studio, Rekordbox in 2003 and proceeded to found the analog recording studio Clouds Hill Recordings in 2005.
Clouds Hill has meanwhile become one of the most renowned studios in the world. During the past 15 years, international stars such as The Beach Boys, The Killers, At the Drive-In, The Libertines, Elbow or Nicolas Jaar and also German music market stars like Die Ärzte, Lena Meyer-Landruth, Dillon, Sportfreunde Stille or Rocko Schamoni have produced their albums here.
The “...live at Clouds Hill” vinyl series excites music fanatics all over the world. Johann Scheerer has produced critically acclaimed albums with acts like At The Drive-In, Peter Doherty, Omar Rodríguez-López, Alice Phoebe Lou, Faust and James Johnston. Meanwhile, he celebrated his hundredth release as a musician and producer. „It ́s magic what this young German did to my songs. He saved my life“, Peter Doherty said about him in 2016.
Scheerer runs the label Clouds Hill. In 2018, his first novel “Wir sind dann wohl die Angehörigen“ was released and made it on the German annual bestseller list.
