Britt is a top notch singer/songwriter. She can take your work to the next level. I had the pleasure of sending her some of my original ideas and after she added her magic to it, I became even more inspired and made it even better. A consummate professional to say the least, she is simply awesome to deal with.

Interview with Britt Daley
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My solo project along with multiple dance tracks with Jeff Retro, Riddler, Kue, The Oddictions, and FRNKROK and a music for C.C.Vísí (my indie-pop duo with Christian Walker). I also co-write with multiple songwriters based in Nashville within the pop, dance, and country music genres.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Of course I'm very proud of the work I did on "Running Wild" with Morgan Page and The Oddictions as the featured vocalist and topline writer, but I'm especially proud of my 2017 debut Album, "Daydreams & Movie Scenes" it was a very personal project for me and a labor of love between myself and producer Kinsey Dulcet. As a concept piece I believe it is some of my best work lyrically, melodically, and sonically.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: "Whisper Takes" can really thicken up the vocals. Essentially singing the melody at half voice or nearly a whisper as an additional vocal stack/double. I learned that trick from Grammy nominated producer, Morgan Page. :)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I work almost entirely in the digital space - but it's just a personal preference and probably more to do with the style of music I predominantly work in, but I do love the warmth of analog recordings and have the utmost respect for those who work in that space.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will always be upfront with you on timeline. I will not drag your project out because I know first hand how frustrating and disheartening it can be when your project that you care deeply about keeps getting pushed back by someone else. I will give your project 110% because it's also my name and reputation on the line.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love being creative and I love collaborating, but I live for that moment when I know I have a really good song... that giddy feeling I get when I'm over the moon excited about it.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "Can you make your voice sound like...?" Barry White... that's not in my wheel house, but otherwise, sure! ;)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: "She's just the singer". In my experience the majority of vocalists in the Dance/EDM world are almost always the topline writer, not just writing lyrics but also writing the melody and in my case 99% of the time I also record, comp, and edit my own vocals.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What vibe/sound are you looking for? Do you have a reference song? How do you want the vocal stems? with/without FX? What file format?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communication is key! Knowing exactly what you need ahead of time and how to properly communicate those needs is so important. It will certainly save you time and money in the long run.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: MacBook Pro - Audio Interface - and Microphone - guitar (maybe I finally play it)... and I would definitely need a power source lol - maybe a generator...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started my career as an indie pop artist in 2010. Had my first commercial cut at the end of 2012/13 with the song "I Like It Loud" written for Carmen Electra which peaked on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic chart at #14 and Dance Club chart at #24. In 2016, "Running Wild" for which I wrote the topline and was the featured vocalist, went #1 on Medibase Dance Radio-Airplay charts in the U.S. During this time I was direct support for a variety of acts in the indie-pop/Indie-rock scene to include Tegan and Sara, Shiny Toy Guns, YACHT, VHS or Beta, Surfer Blood, Kevin Barnes (Of Montreal) and UK blue-eyed soul artist, DALEY. My independent release, "Make It Right" appeared on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 and United States Viral 50 Charts in 2017 without label support or paid promotion. That same year I relocated to Nashville, TN and I'm one half of Indie-pop duo, C.C.Vísí, which will be releasing songs in 2020. Aside from that project, I've continued to work with other producers in the pop/dance world to include The Oddictions and Hakasan/Omnia Resident DJ Jeff Retro.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My solo project is a mixture of chill-wave, downtempo electronic elements blended with R&B and pop-vocals reminiscent of BANKS “The Goddess” and Sia’s “Colour the Small One”. I also have an indie-pop duo that leans a bit more into the indie-rock side of pop. As a featured artist I've gotten comparisons to Tov Lo, MØ, and Halsey.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I have mad respect for Diplo. He's always pushing boundaries and sourcing ideas and influences from all over the world, I love that.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, indie electronic pop, and EDM
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songwriting and Vocals
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Strong hooks, clever lyrics, and rich vocals.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When songwriting, I typically begin with a melody and a phrase or idea before diving into the actual verse/chorus lyric but it completely depends on the project.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio consists of a KORG M50, iMac, MacBook Pro, M-Audio Interface, and Sterling Audio ST77 Condenser Microphone. Software: Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Melodyne
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Sia, Jamie Lidell, Mark Ronson, Bebe Rexha, Andrew Wyatt, Pontus Winnberg, Christian Karlsson, Bonnie McKee, Paul Epworth, Dolly Parton, Diplo, Natasha Kahn, Linda Ronstadt, MØ... too many to name. :)
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I predominately write and record topline for Producer/DJs in the electronic dance world, but I also co-write with pop producers and other songwriters.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Rob Murray - Mixing Engineer, Elliot James - Mastering, Sunnie Williams - Singer/Songwriter, Amber Skyes - Singer/Songwriter + Topline
