After cutting his teeth at the world renowned Westlake Recording Studios (Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Alanis Morissette), Kauner left Westlake in late 2021 to assist mix engineer Jeff Jackson (Bob Marley, Post Malone, Brent Faiyaz, Ariana Grande).

Kauner mixes for clients wide and far. Kauner specializes in pop, R&B, alternative rock, and the singer-songwriter genres.

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. We capture and reproduce music in the analog domain; what goes on in-between those two steps isn't really important to me, as long as the performance and production are inspiring and emotive.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What does your production make you feel? What are you expecting from the mixing process? How can I best serve your artistic vision?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I can only make you sound like yourself – which is the most special and unique thing you can offer the world!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more – the magic is in the performance and the composition.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Engineering jargon is largely uninteresting to me. What I can tell you about my setup is that everything in my signal chain has a purpose, and that purpose is to present a song in its best possible light.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and recording.
