Juan Tomás Palomeque on SoundBetter

"I think that a cello would be perfect here" Ok! Let's get to work! If you're recording a song, and you thought that it could use the 'velvety' sound you always recall, I can make it happen. I'd love to hear the music you are making, talk about what would be appropriate, and take your track to a new level.

Hi! My name is Juan Tomás Palomeque, and I am from Argentina.
I have lots of experience in doing these kinds of jobs, I can create a new part on demand, or I can record something you wrote, or even an idea that you have on audio or in a midi file.
Given the difference in styles, genres, moods and such, I always rely on the previous communication, so that way we can have an agreement on the kind of approach we are giving to the project itself. I usually have several ideas, and through dialog we could narrow it down to the perfect contribution.
It will be my pleasure to help you and to get your project to a higher level!

I am a classically trained cellist with a degree in music performance.
I have plenty of experience in popular music and in composing for different formats, such as orchestra, string quartet, as well as in rock, folk and pop groups.
I have a home studio in which I can record any request that you could have.

I'm looking forward to work with you!

I can't say enough great things about Juan. This is my second time working with him and he has been fantastic both times. He's friendly and prompt in his communication and Juan goes above and beyond to deliver professional, great-sounding tracks. He pays attention not just to the job but to the song. He delivers what the music needs even if that means doing extra tracks to make it the best it can be. Juan will always be my go-to guy for cello tracks. Choose Juan. You will NOT be disappointed!

Juan is so talented and knew exactly how to add Cello to a very intricate track. His skills are extremely polished and everything he sent was ready to be used! I’d gladly recommend him to anyone and will use him again for future projects!

And his recording of the instrument was in a fantastic spot! Didn’t have to tweak much.

I have hired Juan a couple of times and I will continue to use his services in the future. We've worked on a couple of different styles but this last one... he really knocked it out of the park. Easy to work with, top notch quality, on time, right on the money.

Juan was easy to work with and delivered a beautiful cello part beyond my expectations. He was great in sharing a vision of how guitar and cello parts could work beautifully in my song. He took my song to the next level and I would be pleased to work with him again.

Very professional and a quick turn-around. Juan was able to write a cello part that complimented our song very well. The recording also sounded great and had a tone that fit right in with our song.

Working with Juan was fantastic. I wanted to record some cello lines for one song and he composed the idea, and also played it with great precision and entusiasm. His work gave something very special towards my track. The communication was very fluid and the result was better than I expected. I recommend working with him a 100%.

Interview with Juan Tomás Palomeque

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I am composing a sonic piece, made of historical recordings of my country, Argentina, combined with a String Quartet and digital sounds.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: I like both too much!

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: That they would be, satisfied, if not impressed. Primary because of the communication stage; and then because what I want is a satisfied client, and I'm willing to do anything to achieve that.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Create music. In different styles and origins from around the world; and, in addition to that, to be able to play the instrument which I have a great connection with.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: What it is that you are looking for? There's a reference track? Anything that would get us at the same page.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I've studied music in the conservatory, quite a long time ago (-I'm continuing my studies, though-), but first I am a music lover and enthusiastic player. I have almost two decades ( =o ) as a musician in every genre that I came across, mostly pop and folk music, and not exclusively with the cello. I'm also celebrating ten years of recording professionally. For which I am constantly looking for new ideas, sounds, and also technical proficiency.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My main goal as a musician is the perfect sound with the perfect embodiment of emotion. So, my style it's focused on the sound: the attack, the vibrato, the sustain, the release, the glissando, the noise, the pitch. And the harmony and melodic information should come along.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Jonny Greenwood, because of his musical vision and eager to find new ways of communicating.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Listen for the emotion

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I typically play rock/pop/indie songwriting. Introspecting, and somewhat laid back. But I also can rock pretty hard.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: My creativity; and, because of my experience and my education, I have a great baggage to draw from.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: I normally try to enrich the character or the emotions behind a song. It's all we have to do.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: I would start with a conversation, the most important part, to me, it's having the same aim as the client. From there we can start developing ideas that would result in a product of satisfaction, granted.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I have everything I need for a great quality recording. Mics, Hardware, Soundproof room, and, most importantly: a beautiful cello.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: I like the style of Jonny Greenwood a lot.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: There are two most common works: One, is inventing a soundscape made of different cello lines. The other, is a cello line which reinforces the sound, harmony, and emotions of the song.
