I hired Joona for mastering and had a great experience. He's very skilled, and was patient and helpful in walking me through my first song mastering experience. He was able to add clarity to a fairly dark and muddy instrumental piece I'd composed and worked with me to revise it and come up with a great finished product. I'd definitely recommend him to others.

I had such a great time working with Joona. He was very good at collaborating with me and playing with new ideas. He created beautifully and new how to use his toolset to make this piece shine. He was also very patient with my nutso schedule, and didn't let it influence his dedication, professionalism and completion of his work. I am super excited about this music!! Thank you Joona!!:))

Joona has such an incredible ability to transform any genre and style to make it his own. He was able to do more than just produce a single song, he had the ability to create a signature sound for my brand, and was able to do it kindly. Furthermore, he is very open to change, and listens very well to direction. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a great sound. He is definitely my mainstay producer for my upcoming records.

Joona is a wonderful producer: good ears and extensive knowledge about studio technology, placing of microphones, mixing, and mastering. The studio environment has small limitations, as the (big!) recording room has no soundproof separated areas. But it's great for live rhythm tracks and then recording the rest separately - huge natural drum sound.

Interview with Joona Lukala

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Mixing and mastering several albums and working in collaboration with visual artist, we are making commissioned art project.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Song writing team is doing great work, you should check them up

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: I like both.Depends on the vibe and sound of the production and how artist want to work. Usually digital makes the most sense because tight schedule and total recall ability. I think variety makes music more interesting and thats the reason many are using sampled drums with acoustic drums or digital and analog synths mixed together. Same way you can use digital recording and mixing with for example analog tape mastering. They are just tools. People who use them are more important.
