Adam did such a fantastic job producing a single for me. He made a phenomenal track that really fit the song well, and he was a true pleasure to work with the entire time. I can’t say enough about his work.

Working with Adam was a great experience. He created some wonderful final mixes for me.

He got things quickly to the ball park and then took time to work with me to get things just right and get into the small details listening to my feedback and kept adjusting the mix till I was happy with it.

His communication was excellent throughout and the tech systems he has in place to aid communication were excellent also.

I’d defo love to work with him again.

Adam produced my first single “Pilgrim” and upcoming EP “How Long.” I came to Adam with a vague idea of instrumentation and dynamics, and he completely knocked it out of the park!
Working with him was a true collaboration from beginning to end, and I HIGHLY recommend him. He’s extremely knowledgeable and talented, yet very approachable, which makes him fun and easy to work with! Excited for future projects together!

Interview with Adam Farrell

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: Can you describe the sound you are after? Examples? What is your time frame? What is your budget? Do you have a main audience in mind? Who is your typical listener?

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Communication is key to working together towards a successful project that you can be proud of and your listeners will love.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: If I had to pick my main performance/sound styles, they would come from my love for Keith Urban and John Mayer. My style of production is eclectic, I have worked on projects covering many genres. Once of my skillsets is being able to hear a general vibe of what the client is after, and then reproduce the same vibe but with the clients own flavor.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: I would like to work with Ed Cash simply because I know I have learned so much from listening to his projects over the years.

  9. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  10. A: Working on mixing the weekly worship services for our live stream and for youtube release. Writing new music.

  11. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  12. A: Both if possible because they carry unique benefits.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: That I will deliver a quality product that you can be proud of.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: Being a part of the process of releasing creativity into the world that will hopefully impact people in positive ways!

  17. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  18. A: Client: How long will it take? How much will it cost? Me: Show me what we're working with and what your expectations are for the final outcome :)

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: 1. Pair of Focal Solo 6 Be's. 2. My AT 4050 3. My Martin OM-21 4. 1073 BAE 5. The most expensive Apollo interface with all the hardware emulation plugs

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started writing songs as a teenager and recording them in my bedroom with Acid Pro and a vintage PC. I eventually got a job at a local recording studio and cut my teeth there for years. I toured my own music in the Contemporary Christian Music scene and had some mild success which provided me the opportunity to learn from those further along than me. Choosing the path of ministry I went full time into church work and have been doing that ever since. I now work as a worship pastor and freelance my studio work on the side.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Always have something to compare to. Never fall into the trap of thinking that you are good enough to never have to compare your mixes to anything else. Ears get tired, humans get tired so learn to A/B mixes regularly.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: I usually work on contemporary christian worship music both studio and live recordings. I have however worked in genres ranging from Screamo, Jazz, Gospel, Rock, Blues, Country, Acoustic, Folk, Hip Hop, Instrumental, Orchestral and more.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: The blending of all the different skills I have acquired over the years into one package. I may not be the absolute best at any one skill but I am very good at a lot of things that culminate to a great quality project in the end.

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I would say that I bring the ability to shape a song towards the desires of the client, while still infusing some of my own creativity. Never letting that get in the way or conflict with the client's ultimate creative vision.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: This changes depending on what services I am providing. However, I always seek to understand the clients hopes and dreams as far as the sound they are looking to achieve. I keep up communication with clients in order for them to feel as close to the process as possible.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: I work mostly in protools but have experience with other DAWs. I run an Antelope Orion Studio and mix through Focal Solo 6be's with a KRK sub and NS10 M's as secondary.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Keith Urban, John Mayer, Ed Cash, Jeremy Riddle, Sam Gibson, Serban Ghenea

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Most of my work is around me being a one-stop-shop guy. I have a studio setup at home and also do on location recording. I usually take a project from conception to completion with clients. I will provide whatever services they are in need of from engineering, to mixing, to session playing, producing, singing, mastering and even co-writing.
