VRLJ (Santiago María Vrljicak) on SoundBetter

My work tends to evoke Images. I aspire to work exclusively with soulful music, great compositions and honest artists. In exchange I will offer inspiring sounds, honest music or advice when needed. +15 years of experience composing, recording, editing and mixing. Well versed in music theory, I adapt quickly to different musical languages.

I am a Producer, Engineer and Composer born and based on Buenos Aires Argentina. I Worked my way through the old ¨roadie - coffee boy-unpaid intern-second assistant - assistant - assistant engineer-recording engineer- mixing engineer - ghost producer- producer-soon to be cult artist¨ path on El Pie Recording Studios / Twitin Records, one of the top recording studios in Latin America, for the likes of both awarded producers, and underground artists.

Being a classically trained musician holding a degree in Composition, I am used to the complexity of contemporary academic music (really weird stuff), this really helped me when working as a recording and mixing engineer on high profile productions: making edits on the fly, spotting what’s wrong (or, really out of context), sometimes demolishing the whole song and building it up again.

I’ ve done really fake stuff in the past to earn a living, while keeping myself sane on doses of experimental music and after hours. For some time I hated music, but now we are back together. I am currently on a postgraduate program on electronic arts and new media.
As an artist I mix Heavily processed instruments with tribal percussion and dance oriented beats.

If you reached here you can imagine I can be both neat and clean or really unorthodox, whatever it takes for the benefit of the music.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

I worked for over 10 years with Santiago in sessions at El Pie recording studio and he's flawless. Excellent to work with: fast, focused, patient and creative.

Interview with VRLJ (Santiago María Vrljicak)

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: Since ever. As a kid I grew up playing music and at 14 I started working on live sound. I've been working ever since with music and audio. On 2010 I went with a band I was working as a roadie to El Pie Recording Studios, a top edge recording studio since then Ive worked my way trough the industry.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: This question in covid times seems quite pertinent. I am okay with what I have at home, and that is lovely.
