Hello, I'm Réka, a 22 years old singer-songwriter who spends her days with writing lyrics and recording music. I consider myself to be very versatile, I have worked on Pop, R&B, EDM, Indie, Acoustic and Rock songs in the past. I took 5 years of vocal lessons and when it comes to my writing, I like to find newer ways of saying the simplest things.

- Lyrics is very important to me. It is one of the main things that draws me in when I hear a new song. If the lyrics is dull I will not download the music even if I enjoy the melodies and production. That is why I thrive to write in a manner that would be interesting to me, as well as the listener. After all, I was that for a long time before I started writing. There is a fine line between boring and compelling lyrics. Because it's not about how complicated it is, but about specific nuance issues.

- I record with an SM7B.

- So far I've only written in English, but I speak Hungarian and Romanian as well, therefore I can write in those languages as well.

- I make custom offers based on your project, for example: I will not charge a full song price if you only need one more verse written.

Hope to hear from you soon, have an amazing day! :)

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Réka is fantastic to work with - she's a creative lyricist who can write catchy melodies, and on top of that has a lovely voice. I just sent a basic track and she was able to help bring it to life in a short amount of time. Very much look forward to working together again when this one's all done

Reka sang beautifully! Very talented. I could tell she spent time thinking through the song and marrying the lyrics and the melody -- as well as adding stylistic enhancements. I'd be happy to work with her again. Thank you Reka for the professionalism!

I can say that she is too talented a girl, she has an incredible voice, and she is very dedicated with what she does (All this based on my experience of our collaboration, which is on the way)

I worked with Reka on my song ‘Broken’ (which you can hear on any platform!) and she was just amazing! As you can hear for yourself she is an amazing and talented vocalist and musician, it was a blast working with her. We actually met online when I posted a demo of mine and she took a liking to it and then recorded some vocals and sent it to me. I’m so glad I met her because we got such a good song out of it and hopefully we can work together again in future. Please do work with her because I can guarantee you will be very happy with the outcome.

Interview with Reka Barabas

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of my favourite collaborations is Black or White ft. Edgar Osornio. I wanted to form a band in February and he was one of the people who reached out to me saying he's interested. Since we live in different countries (and corona season came) we could only work on it online, but I absolutely love how it turned out. He had an initial 1 minute production that he sent me, I came up with vocal melodies and wrote the lyrics, after which he produced the whole songs, added my vocals, mastered it and.. it's now released.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm working on several collaborations and original songs online, which I used to do for free, but I do need to support myself somehow, that's why I decided that from now on I'll do it via this website.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: Good communication and I'll always try to satisfy their needs, I take each project very seriously.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: How serious are about your music career? Very. I'm 100% set on making it, and I work towards that goal ever single day.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: Friends and family used to think that I'm not serious when I was talking about trying to make it in music, but with my recent releases they are starting to get behind the idea, which is a very fulfilling feeling.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: I can work pretty fast and always make deadlines. You can be 100% sure of that. But it is very frustrating when people keep writing, asking for the lyrics and vocals, BEFORE the deadline. It's stressful and does not make the process smoother/faster. If I tell you I will send it to you in 4 days, you can expect it in 4 days. IF I will not be able to deliver it for whatever reason (very rare, but always a possibility), I will let you know in time. Sore throats and constant rain can be unexpected factors when it comes to that. I like to send back clean vocals, I usually change my sleeping schedule when I record important vocals because at night they are cleaner with minimal background noise.

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: Guitar, my Zoom H6, Laptop, my song notebook and my special pen I write with.

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I have a degree in Film Directing but after getting that, I locked myself in my bedroom and started writing music. I've never written anything before that, but I fell in love with the process. It has been a year since then.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Alex Turner is my favourite songwriter ever, that would be an absolute dream.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I've been contacted by a lot of EDM producers, so that was the majority, but I enjoy indie, rock and alternative R&B a lot.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: Writing and vocals.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: After I get the instrumental and the theme directions, I start listening to it and immediately come up with initial ideas. Melodies come first, sometimes with specific words and then I start to polish them. When I get very specific requirements, I put everything into a document, write down all my ideas and their ideas and work on it like a puzzle, combining the elements.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I record with a Zoom H6 into Logic Pro X.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: Alex Turner, The Neighbourhood, Twenty One Pilots, Jeremy Zucker, Julia Michaels, Billie Eilish, Lana del Rey

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: Writing, Melodies and Vocals
