Dan Alexander

Guitarist & Producer

Dan Alexander on SoundBetter

In the realm of guitars: Funky stabs, jangly chords, and thoughtful leads that could be yours. In the production bunker: warbly arrangements, smooth saturation, and clear characterful flavours can all be applied to your mix. In the upper atmosphere: granular crunchy raindrops, mechanical choirs, and focused drones can be a bed beneath your song.

As a guitarist, I channel the energies of guitar gods past and present to bring the ultimate limp-wristed spank to your track. Whether you need a simple melodic line to hold the groove or some min13 and 7sus4 chords to slap the listeners ears off, I've got you covered.

As a producer, I can help you stand out in the overly-competitive crowd of indie electro-folk beardos trying to out lo-fi each other, and you will ascend that steaming mountain of trash and be crowned a monarch of crackly over-compression. Seriously though, if you enjoy a characterful mix I've got the insight and experience to get your song sounding warm and slightly saturated. Some artists I draw inspiration from and comparison to are Jack Stauber, Alvvays, Katie Dey, Mac Demarco, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Vulfpeck, and Whitney.

As a sound designer, I understand that sometimes the realm of vibrating membranes and strings doesn't entirely encapsulate the emotion, texture and message you're trying to communicate via song, and I can help give your song a bit of electronic excitement. I'll use my collection of analogue, digital, and software machines to spice up your track with some gurgly pads, blippy arpeggios, thunderous bass tones, or whatever artificial sound you need to tie your song together.
