Not another robotic singer-- emotional range is my wheelhouse. I specialize in soft pop and folk, but have studied genres ranging from country to R&B. My vocal tones range from rich and sultry, to light and clear-- I love to play around with different tones and styles to fit the song/lyric. References are always welcome.
As a vocal performance grad from Belmont University, my skill-set combines technical accuracy with the nuance and emotion that is at the heart of what makes music truly special. In addition to a basic lead vocal, I love writing, creating BGV arrangements, and generally helping you bring musical ideas to life--I'm all about variety in texture, tone, and musical color!

Interview with Meredith Nee
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Remember that music is a conversation & each element should be given the proper respect/space/and time to serve its purpose.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First, I like to get a really good sense for what the client wants--asking lots of questions, gathering references, and using lots of descriptive language to figure out what the vibe/tone/sound should be. For lead vocals, I go section by section to build my own vocal reference, and then go from there-- really listening to meticulously fine-tune the nuance in the phrasing, and emotion to fit the song. For BGVs arrangements I like to get a bit experimental and try anything and everything that comes to mind--letting the music inform me. I typically go overboard on BGV tracks and then scale it way back to not distract from anything else in the track. More doesn't mean better!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am constantly inspired by the community of musicians in Nashville
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am in the process of writing and recording my own folk pop project :)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intimate, clear, emotional.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Most projects I work on fall somewhere in the 'pop' spectrum-- though I have been really enjoying exploring Americana and Country projects lately.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Sakari Greenwell is a fantastic vocal talent who delivers consistent soulful, powerful lead vocals in addition to BGVs that are well arranged, produced, and with musical interest.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring authenticity and human emotion to the projects I work on.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My favorite part about this type of work is being able to help people from all over be able to complete projects that mean a lot to them. Creating music should be accessible for everyone who wants to, but so many factors (time, location, money, etc.) can limit and sometimes prevent this from happening. I love that Soundbetter allows me to be a player in someone accomplishing their goals and desires at an affordable rate. I also just really love to sing :)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What does this project mean to you? What goals are you hoping to accomplish with this project, and how can I assist you in reaching those goals?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Clear communication on what you are looking for is key in getting a product that you love. If you are struggling to articulate this, I am happy to spend the time chatting with you and figuring it out together. Reference tracks are always welcome, and I am always happy to discuss abstract concepts/emotions you are wanting to convey and help narrow them down into decisive direction.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I believe my strongest skill (and favorite type of work to do) is arranging and singing tasteful background vocals that enhance a song's texture, color, and feel. I believe that the voice is an extremely versatile instrument in the production of a song, and should be treated as part of the musical conversation happening between instruments in a piece-- meaning it should be present enough to enhance the music without taking anything away from the production as a whole.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am mostly hired to sing lead vocal tracks and will often arrange and sing BGV tracks to add more depth and texture to the project. I have also often worked with clients to first write the topline lyric/melody based on their vision and then have delivered it all together as a lead vocal + BGV arrangement.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is flexibility and persistence to deliver to you the product you want and deserve.
