Interview with C. SHIROCK
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently working on my artist project / album, writing for TV / Film / Sync opportunities.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog instruments into a digital system. Because everything 'in the box' begins to sound lifeless - all the same. I like using real instruments and vintage keyboards and synths whenever possible to give texture and grit to clean modern records.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I want to work with inspiring artists - writers, singers, etc. People that are making music from an honest and vulnerable place.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Trust your instincts - sonically, lyrically, melodically... it's what makes you unique and sets you apart. We all have the same tools to work with, but how you paint with those colors and what you imagine possible is only yours.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alternative Pop - a lot of licensing for TV / Film - some Pop/Rock...
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Lyrics, Melody, Textures, Synths, Keyboards, Pianos, Guitars, Bass...
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Based in Los Angeles - Downtown Arts District. Full studio - vintage synths, upright piano, amps, guitars, Roland Space Echo RE-201, and much more. Many mic options, outboard gear, pre's, compressors, vocal mics, and more.
