Daniel T. Curran on SoundBetter

Composition — Audio Engineering — Vocal Performance, Daniel blends over a decade of performing as an instrumentalist and Juilliard trained vocalist into a vibrant tapestry of compositions utilizing both live and digital instruments. From ideation to audio-engineering, Daniel enriches a wide range of orchestral and vocal music from start to finish.

A true cinephile, Daniel’s passion has always been film and television scores. He is inspired most by Danny Elfman, John Williams, Alan Silvestri, Thomas Newman, and James Newton Howard, often losing time poring over their scores and composition techniques. Most recently Daniel has focused primarily on scoring for film and television, including assisting on cues in the upcoming Woody Allen film Rifkin's Festival as well as several compositions published with Twisted Jukebox, ScoreKeepers, and Earmotion. Daniel works across Logic Pro and Pro Tools utilizing his innate musicality to compose, engineer, orchestrate, and arrange a wide spectrum of solo and collaborative creations.

Daniel deftly blends his affinity for live instruments with digital samples, creating rich layers of sound that excite and delight. Years of performing as an instrumentalist and as a singer with a live orchestra add vibrance to Daniel’s compositions and impart on him the importance of dramaturgy when adapting his music to actors’ performances. His connection to each unique instrument allows him to weave their combined sounds into a cohesive tapestry. With a heightened sense of musical dexterity, Daniel draws from his upbringing for an Americana, Copland-inspired nostalgic sound just as easily as he creates dynamic popular themes.
