Interview with Mind Xplosion Studio's

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: The first Mind Xplosion album. I'm interested in collaborating with singers for guest vocals on a few tracks.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I will do my best to make a track that you will use and enjoy listening to and showing others.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Make sure the communication is clear. Nothing will slow down a project like poor communication. Also, I would advise to not do a "partial mix" where they ask you to mix part of it and send back and forth...you will just spend more time uploading and going back and forth than mixing. You should send someone the mix and get something back, and if revisions need to be made then they are made by the mix engineer.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: Bruce Springsteen. I'd like to make some heavier versions of his songs with him.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: metal, rock, acoustic

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I have an ear for music and I'm a songwriter myself so I'm able to understand what's going on in the music that I'm listening to.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: I will make a rough volume mix first, so just to compare mixes to the raw sound and make sure everything is getting better and not getting dulled down through editing. Then i would do editing, such as de-essing and de breathing vocals, drum replacement, and guitar sims. After that it's the mix which is the creative and fun part.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I edit in Reaper with a bunch of good plug ins.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: A wide variety of rock, Bob Dylan to Lorna Shore.
