Interview with Aaron Clews

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: I usually work closely with my local folk and rock scene however I do a lot of rap etc from international clients

  3. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  4. A: I bring years of knowledge as well as a unique, full sound to a song

  5. Q: What's your typical work process?

  6. A: Usually I start by balancing the levels of the track and listen through, taking notes on what I hear. I then begin to work track by track with surgical EQ and compression to clean. I then work mainly with busses to add a glue and consistent sound along the song, minimising over production.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I have a small home studio setup relying on a pair of Yamaha HS7's for monitoring. However, I mainly work in the box where I use a wide range of plugins including Fabfilter, Melodyne and Plugin alliance.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: The most common work I do Is mixing and mastering work they have recorded themselves at home. I have become very accustomed to working with this so I know how to fix and manage the sounds well.
