Endorse Niraj ChohanInterview with Niraj Chohan
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Prefer digital because it has almost reached the level of Analog in today's times. But this is also subject to you knowing how to get to that level using the digital plugins.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am proud of all projects that I have worked on as I believe that with every project that I have worked on since 2015 there was always an opportunity to learn something new and the opportunity to grow.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Some of my original releases & remixes, and a couple of Mixing Mastering projects for clients.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Get a commercially accepted & a radio-ready release.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It never feels like a job and boredom doesn't exist.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: The vision they have for their releases, a reference track in mind if any, where are they going to release, urgency on receiving the tracks / the expected turn around time.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: To provide a proper reference and direction and you will never be disappointed.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My MacBook & Studio Headphones should be enough for me. Additionally, I would like to have the Audio Interface, Studio Monitors & my MIDI Keyboard with me.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have a manufacturing business background & music was just a passion. In 2014 I just realised that I could pursue music further. I first did my Dj'ing & Music Production Course at 'The Music Inc' Mumbai. I also got the Audio Mixing and Mastering certificates from Point Blank Music School, London. Thereafter I started producing and networking with Djs and Music companies. Since 2015 I have been working with several artists and record companies based in Mumbai.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Any. I like to try multiple genres and I love doing any kind of work that comes to me. I have delivered multiple genres in the past successfully. That has helped me grow as a producer and boosted my skills.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Have a good amount of patience & keep trying new things till the time you reach your vision for the song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: EDM, Hip-Hop, Pop, Future Bass, Tropical House, Deep House, Bollywood, Trap, Moombathon etc. I have worked on multiple genres of music. I have progressed as a producer by accepting whichever genre of music has come my way and have delivered the same successfully.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Audio Mixing & Mastering
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A commercially accepted Radio-Ready finish that is required for a release.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by getting the vision that clients have for their songs. Like to have some reference tracks to progress further. If they have a basic idea for the elements of the song then I like to incorporate those or I start working on the track from scratch. Then in a couple of days, clients get a demo. Then basis their feedback I finish the track and send them masters.
