Sine Sound Mastering offers music mastering and mixing.

Sine Sound Mastering is owned and run by Louis Fourie, also known in the drum and bass world as Lockjaw. Having established himself on some of the genre's biggest labels, Louis began to apply his hard-earned knowledge as a producer and musician to the world of music mastering and mixing for others.

Louis works with all genres of music but specialises in electronic music, especially bass-heavy styles - years of creating, balancing and controlling low frequencies and creating highly impactful songs has endowed him with a deep knowledge of the genre.

Louis also holds a Bachelor of Professional Music Practice with a major in Creative Recording Techniques from the Australian National University, Canberra and uses this education to further inform his music mastering and mixing prowess.

Interview with Sine Sound Mastering

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Multiple labels and two music distribution companies.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Digital. While analog serves a purpose, it is naïve to think that digital is not on-par or even surpassed some of the capabilities of analog gear.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: To always be available for contact and communication, to provide excellent feedback and to deliver the highest quality results possible.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: The attention to detail and the technical process.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Ensure you are happy with your projects before approaching an engineer - the better your projects are before mixing and mastering, the better they will sound after.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: Since 2010.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: Electronic music.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Punctuality and attention to detail.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: The ability to bring out the best of a song and an artist's intent, as well as the ability to spot and errors and shortcomings.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I have a digital-only, in-the-box set up. I believe it is knowledge of tools one uses, not gear or equipment that is important. I use a select range of plugins I have accrued and learned over the last decade to great effect on the projects I work on.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I work with labels, music distribution companies and producers to complete stereo mastering, stem mastering and mixing projects for them.
