What I like most about working with Mika is that he has the ability to give honest feedback and development ideas still leaving a positive feeling. He has great sense of finding the best structure for the song as well as what instruments to use and so on. He hears things in the mix I never saw were even there bothering. Interview with Mika Somppi

Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I can make magic to your song, making it sound bigger, wider and clearer.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically the song writers send me vocal demo recorded with their phone and couple of reference tracks. I search the chord structure and create an awesome sounding beat. I sing a demo vocal track myself or use the vocals sent by the artist. I can then record the vocals myself, but usually they are done remotely. Finally, I mix and master the track.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: So far I've been mostly working with songwriters who simply provide me with a demo vocal track. I take care of the rest, composing and creating the beat, arrangement and vocal recording. Then I mix and master the track.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have everything that is needed these days for a top quality audio production: sound treated room, iMac, UAD Apollo audio interface with a proper microphone and studio monitors.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That it doesn't feel like a job at all.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, headphones, knife and a fishing rod. I don't need the 5th one :)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get the basics right. Do NOT try to fix in the mix!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work with pop, rock and electro but ready to try out pretty much everything.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Versatility - I'm happy to work on almost any genre. What matters is a good song.
