Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I am currently working on my own music project, “Aktion-Fiasko,” with which I also perform live regularly. Electro Punks are not dead! :-)

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Vincent Uhlig - GVU Mastering, I know him personally. He is a magnificent musician. I greatly appreciate his work.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: Most people outside the music business think I'm a DJ.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Maybe the day comes when IAMX asks for a Remix... i am a fan, escpechially the live performance is killer!

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: The client send me a Track for Mixing & Mastering, the first step is always a intensive listening session. Than i asked for reference tracks, or sound wishes of the client. maybe sometimes i have some additional ideas to the song, than i asked, if its okay, when i make some suggestions to it. In Remixing it is another thing, there i do what i wan`t because the client asked me for this remix, because thay like my other remixes. For shure, here it is also possible, when the client comes with some key data... like "i whant a remix for the club" than i of course will ensure that this remix will work in the club.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Remixing, Mastering & Mixing. All this I do in a creative way, when mixing I do what the song tells me and I work to an image that is created in my head. In mixing and especially in mastering I focus on the needs of the client. It's always good if they know what they want to sound like and provide me some reference tracks. But sometimes it's also the case that they trust me completely and just say "please make it sound nice!". I'm happy when the customer is happy.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I am totally open for all genres, but the most stuff i have worked on so far is electronic music. Espechially the darker styles like EBM / Darkelectro / Darktechno / Industrial, but also Synthpop or Rap stuff.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: I think one of my best qualities is that I can put myself in the customer's shoes and get a good idea of what THEY wants.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: Ohh, it`s hard to say names, because i listen to many types of music and if its nicely produced, i can get something out of it. One name for shure is Mr. Haiwatt - Ken Marshall, i love seeing his sessions on youtube, especially when he restore some "Skinny Pupppy" or "Front Line Assembly" sessions from his archives.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: I go for Hybrid! Digital in the Box definately wins in therms of workflow, but the warmth and depth of an analog EQ or Compressor is very, very hard to achive with plugins.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: Very proud i am of the Cover Version for the famous Johan Van Roy (Suicide Commando) that i did with my Project "Captive of Society" Back in the days for his X20 Box. It was a pleasure to do that, and so crazy that he asked us to do that.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: The Job is done, if the Client is happy.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Hmmm, simple but true. Very often "less is more"! Do not overload your songs, focus on the key elements, than its also way easyer to get a clear mix and a loud master.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: The heart of my studio is my MAC Computer with the DAW Cubase Pro an RME Audio Interface. I Like working in the Box, because the Workflow is so much easyer. But some piece of Analog Hardware i also have, for example the most stuff from "Tegeler Audiomanufaktur" is controlled digital, with presets and total recall via one click, i love that!
