He’s a phenomenal producer which helps him generate the right sound for each artist he engineer and mix for. He brings very high quality every masters he’s ever given me was industry ready. And his radio edits are dope the transition from the explicit and clean versions sound similar the record don’t loose the feeling it originally have. I’ve worked with a lot of engineers he’s one of the greats his ear for great music is elite.

Interview with MixedBySkool

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The project I and proud of is A Skool House Valentines. I executively produced it and it was received very well. It was a great body of work and i'm not just saying that because its my project. Check it out for yourself.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now I am executively producing a few projects.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Mickey Shiloah & JawnWitDaGreenHair. Amazing artist, singers & songwriters!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog! The sound says it all.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: If i can make them sound like a specific artist already out. As an engineer i can do things to mimic the sonics and effects an artist may have but I can't make you sound exactly like them because we are all unique. We don't have the same voice, frequencies, control, pitch, etc. if you want to sound a certain way half of the battle is the artist when they record.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Make sure you are fully ready and know what you want when you reach out to me or any other engineers. Be clear on details.

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: Macbook U87 Apollo Midi Keyboard Monitors/headphones

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I started making music as a recording artist. I used to rap. Over the years I began to focus more on production and engineering. I have been at it professionally well over 10 years.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Music is subjective. Never be afraid to do whatever it is you want. Be creative, Stay true to your sound & work flow.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: My strongest skills are Mixing, Producing & Vocal Producing

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: As an engineer I bring the sonics that the artist is looking for and more. I'm a producer & engineer. So I like to get creative and innovative. I treat the song as if I am the artist. I don't look at it as i'm just the engineer.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: I'll listen to the rough mix to get ideas. I then edit, correct timing, pitch, etc. After the editing process is where i begin the finally stages of the mix.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: Most of my clients are for mixing & production on R&B, Urban Pop, Pop, & Hip Hop/Rap records.

  27. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  28. A: That I just push buttons..😒

  29. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  30. A: What are your expectations on a project worked on by me.

  31. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  32. A: I promise to treat your project as if it was mine and i was the artist. You can tell when a project is worked on with passion vs worked on for a quick buck. I will treat all projects with the same importance whether big, small, independent or major! You will have a great quality project!

  33. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  34. A: I love to see the start and finish of a project. Being involved and being a major key in the creation process. As a Mixing Engineer I'm one of the most important elements in the process. Seeing the satisfaction from my clientele when we finish the project is a great feeling.

  35. Q: How would you describe your style?

  36. A: My style is different then most engineers. I think thats because of the passion and love i put in each project. I've played many roles in the music industry so when I mix i'm not just working as an engineer. I work for all parties involved in that artist.

  37. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  38. A: There are so many artist to choose from. JCole, Beyonce, Sevyn Streeter, Meek Mill, the list can go on. But I would say Kendrick Lamar. I've always been a fan of the west coast music scene and i feel he has evolved that sound. I love the old west coast sound as well would be cool if Dr. Dre was at that same session.
